(CNN) - A Boston area man came home from work with his son to find something amiss.He thought that maybe they had been robbed. But upon further inspection, he discovered that nothing was missing and his home was sparkling clean.Nate Roman lives in a single-family home in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Roman tells CNN he left for work the morning of May 15 and came home from picking up his son to find his door was unlocked."[My son said], 'Dad! The door is unlocked.' Which I have done once every blue moon and didn't think anything of it. But when we walked in immediately there was a vibe that something was wrong in the house."He realized that someone may have been in his home because a door he normally keeps open was firmly shut. Roman then went upstairs to check the rest of the house.He discovered his son's room, which was a wreck when they left that morning, was neat as a pin. He found his room in the same pristine condition."Rugs were vacuumed, everything was neat and put away," Roman said.He immediately called the police, and they took the incident very seriously. They cleared the house to make sure no one was still there.Police told CNN affiliate WBZ-TV that they spoke with the neighbors and no one saw anything suspicious. There are no suspects."No crime happened, nothing was missing or damaged, so the police have very little to go on," Roman said.The security system was also not set so cameras that would be activated when the alarm goes off did not get images of the intruder. The time stamp on the door sensors indicated that whoever it was stayed in the house for about 90 minutes.Later, he discovered roses made from toilet paper in the bathroom, a detail that made him realize this was probably the work of a professional. His theory is that a cleaning service came to the wrong address, but his kitchen was untouched which makes him second guess his suspicion.He has since changed his locks and admits that he is still opening cabinets very carefully in case something unexpected was left behind.Roman is hoping to move past the ordeal, but he did keep the toilet paper roses as a souvenir. 2129

You might know the word "ghosting" in regards to dating. It’s usually when someone you’re talking to just disappears and stops communicating. Well, now it's happening during the job process, and people who do it may be paying a price they don't realize.In this hot of a job market, people are ghosting each other left and right. Karen Policastro with recruiting firm Robert Half says potential employers are not showing up for interviews, phone calls or work.Former hiring manager Craig Commings says he’s gotten used to new hires not showing up for the job."It was probably one-third of the time they showed up and two-thirds of the time they didn't," Commings says.A recent survey by Robert Half says 28 percent of people backed out of a job offer. They said it was because they received a better offer from another company.Ghosting is happening more to employers during the hiring process. Policastro says it may seem easier to avoid an awkward situation, but honesty is the best policy.Policastro says, at minimum, send an email updating them on your status. Then tell them, "thank you for the offer, but I have to turn it down."Experts suggest leveraging the better job."You never know when they may come back and say, 'I understand that you have a job offer, let’s see if we can up the ante,' " Policastro says.Job seeker Evan Piedrahita has the right idea, too. "If I got a better offer I would probably email them, let them know and give them a chance trying to increase the salary, benefits and see if they can match that," Piedrahita says.But ghosting works both ways. Job seeker Joshua Curry thought he made a good impression during an interview. But the potential employer never called him back."If I follow-up with an email, I usually get a response. But if I'm calling, not really," Curry says.  Sears is seeking court approval to pay executives as much as million in quarterly bonuses while the company struggles to restructure in bankruptcy.Three top executives could get nearly million each if the company goes out of business. If Sears remains in business, they could get nearly 0,000 each for hitting the top performance targets.Sears filed two different types of bonus plans in bankruptcy court?Thursday. Instead, she received a letter saying that severance payments were being halted because of the bankruptcy, and she would get only the four weeks of pay she had already received."It hit me hard. I was already struggling as it was," she said. She said the bonus plan makes her angry."They say we can't get our severance because there's no money, but they're getting bonuses? It's like a slap in the face," she said.A Sears spokesman declined to comment on the bonus plan or its current severance policy.Eddie Lampert, the company's primary shareholder and chairman, apparently will not receive a bonus, according to the filing.The three top executives who were given the responsibility for running the company during its reorganization are in position for the largest bonuses. They are Chief Financial Officer Robert Riecker, Chief Digital Officer Leena Munjal and Gregory Ladley, president of the company's clothing and footwear business.Each could receive as much as 0,000 a quarter in bonus payments for hitting the maximum cash flow targets. They could receive four times that much if Sears goes out of business, in something the company called an "acceleration event."Retention bonuses for top executives are not unusual when companies go bankrupt. (CNN) -- A new entry in "The Hunger Games" series is on the way, though fans will likely have to navigate the violent world without Katniss Everdeen.Scholastic announced an untitled prequel novel to the bestselling young adult series, set 64 years before the events of the eponymous first novel. The original trilogy followed heroine Everdeen in the fictional dystopia of Panem as she squared off against other teens in a fight to the death and eventually led an uprising against the oppressive ruling class.Author Suzanne Collins said the new story is set during the "Dark Days," 10 years after the start of the titular games that reduced citizens to savagery and murder to survive."With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, and what we perceive is required for our survival," she said, adding that the nascent days of the rebellion provide ample ground for new characters to "define their views of humanity."Set for a May 2020 release, the newest "Hunger Games" novel will arrive almost 10 years after the last, "Mockingjay," was published.The series spawned a movie franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss with Stanley Tucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore.
