A man was arrested after he broke into a Long Island home posing as a Nassau County police officer Friday evening.Robert White, 48, forced his way into the victim’s second floor bedroom apartment around 6:30 p.m., police said.When he entered the apartment, he told the victim, 21, he was an officer and was there to collect rent money. He threatened the victim would be arrested if he did not comply, authorities said.The victim handed White an undisclosed amount of money, police said.White was later taken into custody and was charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of grand larceny and criminal impersonation. 629

A panel of three federal judges in North Carolina ruled Monday the state's congressional map is an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander that favors Republicans, and said it may require districts to be redrawn before the November elections.Republicans hold 10 of the state's 13 seats in the House of Representatives, and a redrawn map could put more seats in play for Democrats -- potentially affecting control of the House.The judges acknowledged primary elections have already occurred, but said they were reluctant to let voting take place in districts that courts twice found had been unconstitutionally drawn.The same decision was reached by the court in January, but the Supreme Court declined in June to hear the case and it was sent back for reconsideration. The Supreme Court has never ruled a partisan gerrymander to be unconstitutional, and it passed up three separate opportunities to do so in the last term.The decision Monday could result in an election-year appeal to the Supreme Court. The court is currently evenly split on ideological lines and lacks a ninth justice to tip the scale. The court also traditionally does not approve of judicial actions so close to an election that could affect the outcome. 1231

A self-driving vehicle operated by Waymo was involved in a crash in Chandler on Friday afternoon. Helicopter footage from Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix showed significant damage to the self-driving van, as well as a silver sedan, after the collision near Chandler Village Drive and Chandler Boulevard. Minor injuries were reported in the crash.Chandler police said the Waymo van was in autonomous mode with an occupant behind the wheel at the time of the crash, but was not the "violator vehicle."Police spokesman Seth Tyler said it is believed that this is the first Waymo collision in Chandler this year.RELATED: Waymo gives?360-degree?view of what it's like inside self-driving carsThis is the second known self-driving car crash in the Phoenix area in the past two months. A new report card is out for dozens of fast-food restaurants, and overall, most failed when it comes to serving antibiotic-free beef.Only two of the restaurant chains received an A grade for having no antibiotics in their beef. Those two included the up-and-coming chain BurgerFi and Shake Shack. A Solon man was conned out of 0 earlier this month after a scammer told him he was holding his father hostage with a gun to his head.According to a Solon police report, the 22-year-old victim thought the scam was real because the caller knew his name.The scammer told the victim to go to the nearest Walmart and wire the money to a person in Puerto Rico or his father would be killed. The victim, who was in Pennsylvania at the time, drove to the nearest Walmart and sent the money as requested. He paid a total of 1.50 for the transaction, including the service fee.The victim told police the whole ordeal lasted around five hours. After he wired the money, the victim reached out to his father, who said he was not in any danger and had been at work.  787
