SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Dean "The Boogeyman" Lister is asking the public to help him find a man he found inside his apartment. Lister, a Jiu Jitsu champion, has taken down opponents around the world - but he never expected a fight in his home. "I thought somebody was working in the apartment," he said, describing the man as covered in tattoos and wearing only a pair of boxers.Lister said the man wasn't making any sense, and soon Lister started to record him. In the video the man is heard saying that he went into the apartment because he thought it was a church. When the man realized that he was being record, Lister said he reached for a hammer - a moment that can be seen just before the video ends. Lister is a gun owner, and said he reached for his weapon when the stranger threatened him. At that point, the man got scared and Lister let him escape out the same window he broke in through. When police arrived, the man was gone. "I'm not trying to sound like any kind of saint," Lister said. "But whatever kind of money I lost, maybe it's not worth someone dying."Lister posted the video on Youtube and shared it with 10News in hopes that someone would recognize the intruder. "Hopefully he turns his life around," Lister said.   1327

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Inclement weather beginning Monday and lasting through Thursday will bring cooler temperatures and rain to San Diego County amid a busy travel season. The first of a series of storms is set to arrive Monday, bringing rain and snow to the county. A second storm is due to bring another round of moisture Christmas night through Thursday. Between the two storm systems, light showers will occur, according to the National Weather Service. The first round of storms are forecast to dump as much as an inch of rain along the coast and in the mountains. Snow accumulations between one and three inches are expected for elevations between 5,000 and 6,000 feet. The agency says the second storm is colder, which means it could have a greater impact in the mountains, including through the Cajon pass and I-8 across the San Diego County mountains. 1172

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Marine Corps Air Station Miramar broke ground Friday on its first hangar to house the F-35, the most advanced fighter jet in the world.While the plane may be controversial, the hope is to replace aging aircraft. The new project will also include a flightline expansion."We're building new F-35 joint strike fighters and we're going to send them right here to Miramar,” President Trump said in his visit to the base Tuesday.Congressman Scott Peters and other military leaders were in attendance at the groundbreaking, thrilled about finally moving these projects forward."We're really taking care of the nation's defense," said Rep. Peters, representing the 52nd District. "One of the things when I went to the Armed Services Committee was to make sure that this facility was high on the list of priorities," he said. Harper Construction won the bid and will employ about 2000 workers.  The 160,000 square foot hangar is designed to hold up to 12 F-35s."We need to upgrade the infrastructure, the connections, the systems inside the hangers," said Col. Jason Woodworth, the Commanding Officer at MCAS Miramar.While critics have pointed to design flaws and skyrocketing costs on the new planes, the military says aging aircraft like the F/A-18 hornets are becoming tougher to maintain."Older airplanes are like that telephone on your wall you had when you were a kid with the rotary dial on it," Woodworth said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It’s now been a week since the first Americans began their quarantines at MCAS Miramar after evacuating from the epicenter of the coronavirus, and all Charles Wasserburger wants is one thing: a pizza.“I’m just eating the food they have here and suffering through all the pizza and burger commercials they have on TV,” he said.To be clear, the Nebraska native says he’s not complaining about conditions on the base where he has been on a mandatory 14-day quarantine since Feb. 5. The government has provided all 232 evacuees at Miramar with televisions and cell phones to call or video chat with loved ones, free of charge. He hasn’t shown signs of the virus, but with two cases now confirmed among evacuees at Miramar, his wife in Omaha is a little worried on his behalf.“Even when you’re trying to keep a positive attitude, which he has done, there’s still going to be those days when you’re second guessing, “Could I be that person that comes down with that horrible thing next?” Fauniel Wasserburger said.The evacuees are allowed to mingle with each other in quarantine, although they’re supposed to stay six feet apart. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Kaiser Permamente employees in San Diego voted to join a nationwide strike against the healthcare giant starting Oct. 14. More than 4,000 members of OPEIU Local 30 supported the action, a union spokesperson said. Workers say they want to “protect middle-class jobs with wages and benefits that can support families.” Hundreds of positions would be affected, including x-ray, pharmacy, and surgical technicians, phlebotomists, optometrists, and housekeepers. “We believe the only way to ensure our patients get the best care is to take this step,” said Robert Sparrow, an x-ray technician. “Our goal is to get Kaiser to stop committing unfair labor practices and get back on track as the best place to work and get care. There is no reason for Kaiser to let a strike happen when it has the resources to invest in patients, communities and workers.” Picket lines will be established at Kaiser Permanente hospitals, medical office buildings, and other facilities in six states and Washington, D.C. Kaiser Permanente Chairman and CEO Bernard J. Tyson issued a statement which reads: “While the Kaiser Permanente management team was actively engaged in negotiations at the bargaining table, SEIU-UHW released a strike announcement on 9/16 – an overt effort to gain leverage in bargaining. “This has been an ongoing pattern during this entire process with SEIU-UHW, as they believe that an aggressive approach such as using negative corporate campaigning and threats of strike is the way to get a better offer than what our other unions have received. “We are in this situation because of the aggressive approach of SEIU-UHW leadership, but our approach remains the same: we are committed to offering a package that’s aligned with all of our other unions that keeps our employees among the best paid in wages and benefits in the industry.
