SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diegans have been itching to visit several local theme parks and attractions since they were closed in March due to COVID-19.Now that California has approved zoos and outdoor museums to reopen under safety guidance, several local spots have announced reopening dates in time for summer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are searching for a man with autism and epilepsy who hasn't been seen since he left home Sunday.Guillermo Gradilla has a history of running away, his family said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is celebrating 250 years of history in 2019 with special events planned to commemorate the anniversary. Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced efforts for the San Diego 250 initiative Tuesday at a news conference. The San Diego region has been Kumeyaay territory for thousands of years, but the San Diego we know today began on July 16, 1769, city officials said. “This year we mark a tremendous milestone – 250 years of history, culture and achievement,” Mayor Faulconer said. “San Diego is the place where California began, and we will reflect on our past, commemorate this moment in time and look forward to building a better future for all San Diegans in the next 250 years. I want to thank the many dedicated individuals and organizations that have come together to help celebrate this important anniversary and create opportunities to learn more about our history and heritage as a city and region.” A group of civic leaders, organizations, community volunteers has met biweekly to plan key events. Kumeyaay representatives have also contributed to the group’s discussions about an accurate historical representation of their history. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are investigating reports of a gunfight in the city's Chollas Creek neighborhood.Police officers responded to reports of two people, described as two black males, shooting at each other in the 5000 block of Auburn Drive shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.The shooting occurred on a residential street just blocks from two elementary schools: John Marshall Elementary School and The Waldorf School of San Diego.No injuries have been reported.
