SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Video of a mystery car prowler is helping bring neighbors in Allied Gardens together.Along Estrella Avenue early Friday morning, Thomas Arevalo found his 2010 Honda Accord missing from the street in front of his home. Inside the trunk were hundreds of dollars worth of equipment belonging to the Rock Church baseball ministry.When one neighbor learned of the theft, he searched through his surveillance video and saw something suspicious. Just before 5 a.m., just feet away from where that car was parked, was a man wearing a hat and holding a skateboard, going from vehicle to vehicle to vehicle.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"Just brazen with not a care in the world. Just looking through cars with a flashlight ... shopping for whatever he wants out of someone's car," said Arevalo.Investigators are taking a close look at the video and so is the rest of the neighborhood after it was posted on the Nextdoor app."Our neighborhood is coming together," said Arevalo.There have been dozens of responses to the post. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people are dead after a car and semi-truck collided during a Border Patrol pursuit in Otay Mesa Tuesday night, agents say. According to Border Patrol, two people were seen crossing over the border into the United States early Tuesday night. Agents described them as a man and a woman.The agency told 10News a getaway car was waiting for the pair. The driver of the car led agents on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. RELATED: Three hospitalized after Border Patrol chase leads to crash in CampoThe pursuit lasted for about a quarter of a mile before the driver reportedly lost control and crashed into the back of a semi-truck, forcing the car beneath the truck and into a ditch. Two of the men inside the vehicle died while the woman was taken to the hospital and, as of Tuesday night, was listed in critical condition. The identity of the victims hasn’t been released. 937

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A troubled spot in Lincoln Park is getting a new look. The community came together to clean up the site.The intersection of Euclid and Imperial Avenues was once known as the "Four Corners of Death" because of the high crime, gang activity, and homelessness. Now the area is getting some long-overdue attention."I remember when that area was bustling with businesses and commerce," says Brian Pollard, President of the Urban Collaborative Project.Since 2017, the Urban Collaborative Project has been working with community members, the city, and county to clean up the area and find help for those living on the streets.Brian Pollard says there has been an increase in affordable housing in the area, but resources like healthcare and food are still limited."We're putting more people in here but not increasing the services that are needed to support these affordable housing units. Food is a very big issue."The group's first significant project was bringing the Food 4 Less, located in Market Creek Plaza, to Southeast San Diego years ago. This part of town has virtually no major grocery stores."Until we start acknowledging that and pumping resources and shifting priorities, we will never catch up," says Pollard.UCP hopes to redevelop the Lincoln Park area, near Euclid and Imperial Avenues, to see it thrive as it did years ago, inviting businesses to invest in the process.The group is planning a community clean up in the coming weeks to beautify the area. 1491
