Sunsets are reflected beautifully off the lake, while the dry brush and mountains on the horizon can split through, creating some stunning imagery.Temecula wine countryUp north, San Diego County's wine region creates a mesmerizing foreground to sunsets. The district's curriculum is becoming more inclusive. School can be a tough time for many students, including those who identify with the LGBTQIA community."In a 2017 report, a national study, 82% of our LGBTQ students reported hearing anti-LGBTQ remarks," says Assemblymember Todd Gloria. "Seven in 10 reported being called names or threatened during their school day."Gloria spearheaded Assembly Bill 493. It would mandate LGBTQ identity training for educators, grades 7-12. Governor Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law last fall.Although school is out for summer break, the San Diego Unified School District is showing its support. The Pride and Transgender flags, among others, were raised outside of the district's office.SDUSD has implemented a curriculum that will help teachers and students. Each module contains four lessons. It comes equipped with terminology and LGBTQIA history."What we found out as a district, is that these students are hearing about these issues and these people for the first time because a lot of our educators have been ill-prepared to have these discussions in classrooms," says Ebonee Weathers with the Youth Advocacy Dept.Weathers also notes that it's important for educators to build relationships and empower students, so they feel safe and comfortable in school settings. 1478

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Authorities are investigating a threat to the San Diego County Administration Center by a former county employee.The specifics of the threat and how it was made was not immediately clear but the threat was being taken "very seriously," Chief Administrative Officer Helen Robbins-Meyer said in a letter to county employees.The employee, who was not named, no longer works with the county.RELATED: San Diego Unified School District, San Diego police outline school safety effortsSan Diego Sheriff's Department was notified, made contact with the person, "and took appropriate action to minimize the threat." Despite this, they asked employees to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior."Deputies and security personnel at the CAC are familiar with the subject and are ready to address any concerns."In Robbins-Meyer's letter, she wrote the county is working with SDSO "on every legal means possible to prevent this individual from accessing County facilities." 1011

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - California state Assemblyman and San Deigo mayoral candidate Todd Gloria said he received serious threats of physical violence through social media Wednesday evening.Officials from Gloria's campaign said Thursday that the threats have been reported to the San Diego Police Department and are being investigated. ABC 10News reached out to SDPD Thursday regarding the threats, but the department did not immediately respond.Gloria's campaign said the threats come after former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio flooded voters with texts attacking Gloria for his support of SB-145.The bill lets a judge decide whether to force someone to register as a sex offender in certain circumstances after having sex with a minor. The bill is meant to end discrimination against LGBTQ individuals.RELATED: Ad accuses Barbara Bry of sleeping on the jobGloria said DeMaio's texts to voters are an effort to support Gloria's opponent in the mayoral race, City Councilmember Barbara Bry. Demaio has said he has not endorsed Bry.Gloria issued the following statement on Thursday regarding the threats:"Since KUSI and Carl DeMaio started knowingly misinforming voters about SB-145 in an effort to support my opponent, I have received multiple messages threatening physical violence. After receiving one last night brandishing a gun, it is clear that my campaign team and I must take this seriously. As such, we have reported the threats to the San Diego Police Department, and they are currently investigating.While I refuse to let this paralyze our campaign, voters deserve to know that this is what Barbara Bry's campaign is inspiring. Her campaign is bringing out the worst of who we are. We are so much better than this, and San Diegans should hold her and her campaign accountable this November."In response, Bry's campaign issued the following statement:"Violence and threats of violence have no place in a civil society, and we must all condemn anyone who promotes such activity.However, it's outrageous that Todd Gloria is blaming me while his supporters are promoting political ads that have resulted in numerous personal threats against me and my campaign.
