Michigan's Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, announced Friday a ban on the open carry of firearms on Election Day in polling places, clerk's offices and and absent voter counting boards.Local law enforcement agencies will enforce the ban statewide.“Fair, free and secure elections are the foundation of our democracy,” Benson said in a press release. “I am committed to ensuring all eligible Michigan citizens can freely exercise their fundamental right to vote without fear of threats, intimidation or harassment. MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) — Hurricane Eta is quickly gaining force as it heads for Central America, threatening massive flooding and landslides across a vulnerable region.
