BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Local governments should lay stress on economy restructuring and innovation to guarantee the long-term stable and relatively fast economic growth, said Li Keqiang, Chinese Vice Premier.     Li made the remarks in his recent inspection and research trip to central China's Jiangxi Province from Sept. 24 to 26. We should base ourselves on the current realities and be more forward-looking and broad-minded," He said.     Li added that China should push forward the deepening of reforms and strategic economy restructuring while maintaining the relatively fast economic growth.     China's economy expanded by 7.9 percent from a year ago in the second quarter this year, faster than the 6.1 percent in the first quarter, which was the worst quarterly growth in a decade, dampened by a slump in exports.     Li urged provinces in the central region to give a full play to their growth potential and advantages, take on the development opportunities of strategic importance, improve the quality of economic growth and achieve remarkable economic progress through reforms, innovation and industrial upgrading.     Central China provinces should endeavor to achieve remarkable economic advancement by 2015, according to a plan passed Wednesday by the State Council, the Cabinet.     The central areas include Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan provinces. BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu, who headed Monday to the typhoon-hit regions in Fujian and Zhejiang, warned Tuesday that the country faces grim tasks of fighting secondary disasters as a result of Typhoon Morakot. Big floods are still likely to happen as heavy rainfall persists in the south and many rivers continued to maintain high water levels, he said.     More than 20 rivers reported water levels above flood-alarm lines in Zhejiang, Fujian and Anhui provinces. The county seat of Cangnan is flooded on Aug. 10, 2009 in east China's Zhejiang Province. Rainfall brought by typhoon "Morakot", the 8th this year, has flooded the county seat of Cangnan    Hui asked relevant departments to strengthen monitoring of flooding and forecasts of other disasters, so as to relocate people as quickly as possible to minimize casualties.     Typhoon Morakot has left eight people dead and three missing on the Chinese mainland after a powerful landing in east China Sunday, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs Tuesday.     As of Tuesday afternoon, Morakot had moved into the Yellow Sea, and would gradually pose less threat to coastal provinces in eastern China.

BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The first seven companies applying for listing on the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM), a Nasdaq-alike market in China, have got green lights from the country's securities regulator on Thursday.     They are in the fields of software, medical equipment and medicines. They planned to raise 2.27 billion yuan (332.65 million U.S. dollars), from the IPOs, according to China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC).     "This means the seven enterprises are eligible to list on the market, but they still have some flaws in information issuance, which need to be improved," said Jiang Xinhong, a member of the review commission.     The flaws don't hinder the listings, but these enterprises should go through some necessary procedures before getting listed, said the CSRC.     The CSRC had received 155 applications for IPOs on the GEM as of Sept. 10, since it started to accept applications of the GEM on July 26.

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese economy is experiencing a "V" shape recovery and the growth rate may reach 8 percent both this year and next year, said Chinese economist Fan Gang said here Saturday.     Fan, a monetary policy adviser to China's central bank, said at the 2009 annual conference of CEO in Beijing, that the economy will see a sustainable recovery and will be back to normal in 2011,according to a report of the China News Service.     He predicted that the real estate investment will increase by around 30 percent in 2010, which will add one percentage point to economic growth.     Corporate investment is expected to grow prominently next year and as the global trade is warming up, Chinese export, which still enjoys the cost advantage, will recover.       "After the economy is back to normal in 2010, the government will adjust the macro-economic policy. But before that happens, the current stimulus policy should stay to sustain the recovery," he said.     Fan said people should adjust their expectation of economic growth and not regard recovery simply as a double-digit growth. A growth grate of 8 percent to 9 percent is sustainable growth.
