FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A driver narrowly missed hitting a deputy on a traffic stop Tuesday, instead rolling over their vehicle in an effort to avoid hitting him.The whole crash was caught on dash cam video.On Tuesday afternoon, Eddy Ramos was driving when the rollover happened in front of him.His video shows an SUV in the northbound lanes swerve past the deputy who was stopped on the right shoulder.  The SUV veered left and rolled over across the median, coming to a stop upside down in the southbound lanes.Thankfully the SUV's driver appeared to be uninjured as she climbed out the driver side window.No word on whether any charges were filed. 659

FORT MITCHELL, Ala. – A 5-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle on a busy Alabama highway Sunday night after reportedly being forced out of a car as punishment.Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor told WTVM that the boy, Austin Birdseye, was riding in the car with his mother’s boyfriend, 35-year-old Bryan Starr, when the child began “being unruly.”Taylor told CBS News that Starr had taken the boy on a drive that night to “calm him down” after he acted up at home.During the drive, Taylor says Starr pulled over, told Birdseye to get out of the vehicle and then lost sight of him in the rain. The boy ended up wandering onto Highway 165 in Fort Mitchell, where he was fatally hit, according to the sheriff.Starr was arrested on a murder charge, but he has since bonded out of jail, CBS reports. If convicted, he could reportedly face 20 years to life in prison.Taylor believes Starr made a horrible decision. He said he understands trying to discipline the child, but the way Starr did it was “mind-boggling.” He told CBS that it serves as a lesson to parents.“There's way to discipline your child, but we have to do it the right way and we can't do it in a way that's going to potentially bring harm," Taylor said.Starr is in the military, stationed at Fort Benning. Five people died when a small plane crashed in a Southern California parking lot on Sunday, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.The twin-engine Cessna plane crashed in Santa Ana, and had been bound to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, said Capt. Tony Bommarito, the public information officer with Orange County Fire Authority.There were no survivors on the airplane, he said.The plane crashed just a block away from South Coast Plaza, a large mall. There were no injuries on the ground. The plane hit an unoccupied, parked vehicle on the ground, but the owner was in a store at the time of the crash, Bommarito said. 638

FORT HOOD, Texas —The family of missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen met with officials from the Army base and the Criminal Investigation Command (CID) Tuesday and said foul play is suspected in the woman's disappearance.Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia and an official with the League of United Latin American Citizens accompanied the family.Vanessa's mother spoke and said in Spanish that while she's grateful Army officials invited them for an update today, she felt sick visiting Fort Hood. She says the Army took too long to search for her daughter.She says she asked Fort Hood to shut down the base and look for Vanessa as soon as she went missing and they didn't do it."I told them to search barrack by barrack and they never did it. I seek justice, that they respect Vanessa as a soldier, as someone who is serving this country," said her mother. She demands the people on base are investigated, especially the sergeant who she says her daughter said was sexually harassing her."I told them I want her alive. She entered alive," said the mother."If my daughter appears dead, close this base immediately," her mother said while crying. "I want her alive, for the love of God. I need my daughter with me. She is my life.
