SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Thursday released a picture of the vehicle used in a deadly hit-and-run in Logan Heights last week. 52-year-old Maria Estrada Romero was hit while walking near Cesar Chavez Parkway on her way to a bus stop on November 15. Two days later, she died at the hospital. Police say the driver didn’t call 911, or stop to render aid to Romero. RELATED: Woman critically injured in Logan Heights crashThe vehicle used in the hit-and-run is described as a 1997 to 2004 white Ford F-150 truck with stock wheels. 10News spoke with family members about the crash Wednesday. Romero was a mother of five and grandmother of five. "Always really happy, an outgoing person," said Brianda Ramos.The family says they rushed to the hospital after learning Romero was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Basically left her right there," said Ramos.Family members say Romero had become famous in the area for selling tamales at parks and schools in Southcrest and Bay Terraces. Police say the truck had a tinted back window and a white California sticker. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a body was found in Mission Valley Tuesday morning. Police say the body of a 67-year-old man was found on the 8800 block of Friars Road near the Rio Vista Shopping Center at 8:46 a.m. The victim had endured stab wounds to his upper torso, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after two people were stabbed in the San Diego River Tuesday night. According to police, the stabbing happened on the 500 block of Morena Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. between Old Town and Linda Vista.After the stabbing, the suspect, only described as a man wearing a white shirt, fled the scene. Despite a police helicopter and officers on foot, the suspect managed to escape.Lt. Mike Ramsay said the two victims were hispanic men, ages 18 and 19. One was stabbed in the chest and the other in the stomach. They were taken to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Northbound lanes of Interstate 5 through National City were shut down early Saturday following a deadly crash.The two-vehicle collision occurred just after the State Route 54 connector, according to California Highway Patrol. All traffic was being diverted off I-5 at the Mile of Cars. Traffic was also being diverted off WB SR-54 onto Highland Ave.Traffic gridlocked in the area, backing up onto the E St. on ramp in Chula Vista and westbound Sr-54 connector, according to CHP. Some motorists were seen turning around on the on ramp and driving the wrong direction.MAP: LIVE TRAFFIC CONDITIONSCHP reported that all NB I-5 lanes were reopened just before 11 a.m.The cause of the crash is being investigated. But CHP said it appeared a Toyota Tacoma was speeding in the emergency lane to get around traffic and caused a chain-reaction crash involving at least four vehicles.That suspected driver of that truck reportedly took off after causing the crash, CHP said. Officers were searching for that driver Saturday morning.One person died in the multi-vehicle crash. That person has not been identified. 1128

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors in Hillcrest say an abandoned church has become a campground for the homeless. The church sold the land to developer LMC North Park Holdings in 2018. They were still leasing it out until about a month ago. That's when residents say the homeless started moving in. "It's more or less the drug crowd, sex trafficking, stuff like that that winds up utilizing these areas," he said. The spot on Park Boulevard and Meade Avenue is boarded up, covered in graffiti, and littered with needles. On Tuesday, firefighters say transients smoking drugs started a fire at another vacant building a few blocks down. Passante says it's just a matter of time before that happens at the church. "It's the same people you see over and over and over again and most of them have some kind of mental illness," said Passante. "The quicker places like this can be demolished the less we'll have that problem.LMC North Park Holdings says they are aware of the problem and have hired 24/7 security. Our crews didn't see any security guards while out there for several hours gathering the story. They say they've been waiting on permits and have plans to start demolition by the end of the year. 1206
