SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Linda Vista grandfather is missing a pricey, sentimental piece of jewelry after trying to help out some strangers.Steve Phakdy says his 71-year-old father was attending an event at a Buddhist temple in Chollas View more than a week ago, when a white Chevy Tahoe pulled up. "Flagging him down, saying, 'Hello mister.' The husband says, 'It's my wife's birthday. Can you give her a blessing?'" said Phakdy.Phakdy says his father did something to acknowledge the birthday. A woman in her 30s then got out of the SUV."She hugs my dad," said Phakdy. In the backseat was a baby in a car seat."The husband gets out and says, 'We have some jewelry to give you or show you,'" said Phakdy.Together, the two placed rings on his hands, wrapping necklaces around his neck and arms."The husband was grabbing his wrist. Turning it around doing this and doing that," said Phakdy.His father offered to pay for the jewelry, but the couple quickly drove off. "Was looking at the bracelet they gave him and hey, wait, where's my bracelet?" said Phakdy.Gone was a 24-karat-gold-and-diamond bracelet, an anniversary gift from his wife. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge has ordered a man charged with attacking and stabbing two women to stand trial. A preliminary hearing was held Tuesday for Patrick Douglas, 51.Douglas is charged with two counts of attempted murder in connection with two stabbings in El Cajon and La Mesa on the same day.Police in La Mesa said a female Frito Lay delivery driver, later identified as 35-year-old Dina Hammond, staggered into a 7-Eleven where she had just made a delivery after being stabbed several times.RELATED: Pursuit suspect arrested for pair of stabbings in La Mesa, El Cajon?Hammond was rushed to the hospital in stable condition following the stabbing.Shortly after, Police in El Cajon received a call after a woman was found with stab wounds at a strip mall. The woman, later identified as Shawntey Palmer, was also in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.After the stabbings, Douglas led police on a chase after a Mercedes-Benz matching the description of his car was spotted.During the pursuit, Douglas reached speeds of more than 100 miles-per-hour before the car was found abandoned.Douglas was eventually located and arrested. 1161

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man with San Diego ties who worked for the U.S. government is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting multiple women, according to federal court documents.An FBI spokesperson confirmed Brian Jeffrey Raymond was arrested in La Mesa earlier this month.The arrest was first reported by The Daily Beast.Team 10 learned his arrest on October 9th took place in the parking lot of a La Mesa gym. Currently, he faces one charge related to sexual assault, but prosecutors said he is under investigation for crimes against 21 other women.Raymond, who most recently worked for the U.S embassy in Mexico City, had worked for the government for 23 years."For years, he has exerted power and control over unconscious women, undressing them, sexually assaulting them, photographing them, and recording them without their knowledge or consent," prosecutors wrote in court documents. They called him an "experienced sexual predator."He is currently at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown. In a hearing this week, he was ordered to be transferred to Washington D.C. The investigation showed in May 2020, police in Mexico City responded to Raymond's apartment to reports of a "naked, hysterical woman desperately screaming for help." The woman said she met Raymond on Tinder. Their date eventually led to his apartment, where they ate snacks and drank "from a wine glass [Raymond] provided in his residence," documents showed. The victim said she suddenly blacked out. A sexual assault examination showed several injuries.On Raymond's devices and iCloud, investigators said they found approximately 400 photos and videos, some dating back to 2011. They showed at least "21 different unconscious women." Some of the women were fully nude.Law enforcement said they found his internet searches included "passed out black girl," "deep sleep," and "Ambien and alcohol side effects."The alleged assaults took place from Mexico City to Virginia, according to prosecutors. Raymond's parents live in La Mesa. Documents showed he moved back to their home in June after he resigned from his job. In an interview with federal agents, his parents said "they feel like they do not know their son" and were surprised when he came to visit. Prosecutors said his behavior was escalating, even after his arrest. A week before he was arrested in La Mesa, they said Raymond met another women who could only remember small fragments of their sexual encounter.Raymond's attorney did not return Team 10's request for comment. 2531

Hallahan bound over eight felony counts against 19-year-old Seth Roberts.Three of his alleged victims gave testimony on Tuesday, describing their encounters with him.The first was an 18-year-old woman who said she had dated Roberts for about two months last year. They had been living in Oklahoma but both decided to hitchhike to California in October. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A pair of North San Diego County residences may become the latest local site to receive a national historic place designation.The Boathouses in Encinitas will be considered at an Aug. 1 meeting by the California State Historical Resources Commission to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.On 3rd Street, the pair of boathouses, known as the S.S. Moonlight and the S.S. Encinitas, sit blocks from the water but remain very much connected to 1920s life on the water. They were always intended to be homes and not actual vessels, but also meant to replicate the appearance and scale of boats at the time.Today, the homes represent what the California agency calls "an architecturally significant example of Fantasy-themed programmatic residential architecture." In short: Residential architecture meant to resemble something other than a traditional building.The boathouses were purchased by the Encinitas Preservation Association in 2008 and are currently rented out as private homes. Once the loan is paid off though, the plan is to convert the pair of quirky dwellings into a small museum.But explorers can visit the homes anytime on 3rd St. or do so with a helping of history from the Encinitas Historical Society during guided walking tours every third Saturday between Sept. and July. 1564
