KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County Library is searching for the owner of an old family photo it believes was mistakenly left at the library.A library employee found the photo in the donation bin at the Lackman Library in Lenexa, Kansas."Because of that we don't know who dropped it off, where it came from or who it belongs to," said Josh Neff, an information specialist at the library.The photo was left in the bin in March and the library has been holding on to it ever since."We have been holding on to it hoping that whoever accidentally lost it, would think to come back here and ask about it. But so far nobody has claimed it," said Neff.Now, the library is turning to social media in hopes of finding the photo's owner. On Monday, the library posted the image on Facebook and Twitter."We know the power of social media. We know that it's a great way to spread the message," Neff said. JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) — Four people were arrested after a 14-year-old was caught smuggling crystal meth through an East County checkpoint.The boy had three bundles of methamphetamine strapped to his body underneath his clothing as he traveled through a State Route 94 checkpoint on Monday night, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. A border K9 patrol of the vehicle during questioning alerted agents to the narcotics.During questioning of the 14-year-old and three other people in the vehicle, a second inspection with K9s was performed. The agents says they found three backpacks in the rear of the vehicle, containing 49 plastic-wrapped packages. The backpacks contained about 50 pounds of methamphetamine.The driver, a 34-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested along with a 16-year-old US citizen and two Mexican national ages 14 and 16. Border agents seized the vehicle and turned over the narcotics and individuals to officers with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force.Since Oct. 1, 2019, San Diego Sector CBP says it has seized nearly 1,100 pounds of meth worth nearly .1 million on the street. 1135

(AP) — A group recommending a new Mississippi state flag has chosen five final designs — three with a magnolia blossom, one with a magnolia tree and one with a shield that has wavy lines representing water. Mississippi legislators recently retired the last state flag with the Confederate battle emblem that’s condemned as racist. By law, the new design cannot have the Confederate emblem and must have “In God We Trust.” Mississippi was the 20th state, admitted into the Union in 1817, but the finalist designs have 21 stars to include the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and other indigenous people.After getting hundreds of submissions, the flag comission narrowed the field to nine designs and asked the public to weigh in via an online vote. Commission Chairman Reuben Anderson noted Tuesday that more than 48,000 people voted, according to MississippiToday.com.“That shows Mississippians have a tremendous amount of interest in what we’re doing,” Anderson said. “We’re not going to disappoint them. La Jolla, CA- (KGTV) San Diego researchers are looking for people who have recovered from COVID-19 who are willing to donate their blood to be screened for antibodies. Dennis Burton, PhD, is one of the world's leading experts on antibodies. Burton is the chair of the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research. His primary focus was developing vaccines for HIV and other infectious diseases, but now his priority is on the novel coronavirus. "What we are looking for is for folks who have diagnosed COVID-19 and have recovered. And preferably, we would like individuals who have recovered some time ago. So, ideally even a month, or two months since they had the illness. That gives time for the antibodies to the virus to have matured and become really good. We're after finding really good antibodies," said Burton. According to Burton, finding patients can be challenging because so many may not realize they were infected." We've heard from quite a few people, mostly, though, they were not actually diagnosed. They may well have had COVID-19, but we're not sure," said Burton. Once they get confirmed patients, the research involves two critical steps."One is we clone the antibodies, and test them, first of all, in test tubes basically and see how well, they do against the virus. Then, later we may try them in some model systems. So, that's what we would do, first of all, and if we can find really good antibodies, then it would be up to pharmaceutical companies to make them in large quantities for use in a therapeutic activity that's the first thing," said Burton. The next step involves using the antibodies to make a vaccine."That's a much, much longer process, but it's one that could be important," said Burton. Burton said there's still a lot to learn."There's also challenges in not knowing the behavior of the virus. We're very careful cause we don't really know too much about it. It's only emerged 3 or 4 months ago," said Burton. Scientists estimate a vaccine could still be at least a year away. In the meantime, Burton said people need to be careful."All of these treatments are a ways down the road, the best thing at the moment, is to avoid getting infected as much as you can, so really be very cautious," said Burton. 2279
