SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego State University reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,072 since Aug. 24, the first day of instruction for the fall semester.The new totals reported by Student Health Services reflect numbers as of 6 p.m. Saturday.Of the students living on campus, 385 have tested positive and students living off-campus totaled 666 positive cases, health services said. A total of eight faculty or staff members have tested positive and 13 "visitors," people who have had exposure with an SDSU-affiliated individual, have tested positive.The number of confirmed cases was 1,030, with 42 probable cases.The information is based on cases reported to Student Health Services by an individual or by a public health official. As more private labs are administering tests, there is a possibility that not all cases are being reported to Student Health Services.For privacy reasons, SDSU does not report names, affiliations or health conditions of students, faculty or staff who test positive for COVID-19 unless a public health agency advises that there is a health and public safety benefit to reporting such details. 1176

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police searched Thursday for a hit-and-run driver who ran a red light at a Mission Valley intersection and slammed into another car, seriously injuring it's 60-year-old driver.The crash was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Friars and Frazee roads, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.A 60-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Lexus sedan southbound on Frazee Road when a man driving a blue Ford pickup truck westbound on Friars Road ran a red light at Frazee and crashed into the driver's side of the Lexus, Heims said.The pickup driver kept driving, then pulled over a short distance away before he got out and ran away, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Some San Diego city council members and employees present at a city council meeting this week were informed Wednesday that an employee at the meeting has tested positive for coronavirus.The positive patient attended Tuesday's meeting and a request was made of affected individuals to schedule a COVID-19 test and self-quarantine for the next two weeks, according to a spokesman for Mayor Kevin Faulconer.Anyone entering a city facility is subject to temperature checks and must adhere to social distancing protocols and employees must wear face masks.Council members Chris Cate, Monica Montgomery, Vivian Moreno and Scott Sherman were present for the meeting. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego-based medical equipment manufacturer ResMed Corp. has agreed to pay more than .5 million to resolve allegations that it paid kickbacks to suppliers, sleeps labs and other health care providers in exchange for referrals and prescriptions for its products, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.The government accused ResMed of violating the Anti-Kickback Statute of the False Claims Act by providing free or below-cost medical equipment to companies in several states.
