A US Border Patrol boat patrolling the Rio Grande was shot at early Friday morning from the riverbank on the Mexican side, US Customs and Border Protection, or CPB, reported.More than 50 rounds were fired and the boat was hit several times, but no one on board was injured, 286

A Michigan woman said she escaped two human traffickers from their home up north last week.According to Michigan State Police, troopers were called to a home in northern Michigan around 3 a.m. on Jan. 10, to investigate the alleged human trafficking case.Roscommon County Sheriff's deputies said they had a woman in custody for stealing a vehicle, but the woman said she escaped a home where two men forced her to clean and perform acts of prostitution.The woman told troopers she was being held against her will by two suspects, identified as James Jarrell and Jeffrey Kobel, both 50 and from Roscommon.She said she had been brought three hours north from Ypsilanti to Roscommon County a few days earlier. There was also alleged drug dealing going on at the residence.The MSP Emergency Support Team and other agencies executed a search warrant at the house and arrested both men.Police charged Jarrell with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of unlawful imprisonment and one count of habitual offender fourth offense. A Spanish man spent his summer vacation paddling his way from the west coast of the U.S. across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii.It took Antonio de la Rosa 76 days to paddle some 2,500 miles while standing on a submarine-shaped craft. He had planned to make the trip in 70 days, but suspects he drifted too far north at one point during his journey.He celebrated his 50th birthday at sea and arrived Saturday in Honolulu.de la Rosa said Monday that he's feeling a bit tired.He paddled eight-to-10 hours daily and slept every night. But he was always tired because he woke up hourly to check on his gear.In addition to a sleeping cabin, de la Rosa's boat included computers and GPS systems that ran on solar energy created by panels on the roof. However, the boat was only moved by wind, ocean currents and de la Rosa himself.He believes no one has ever done what he accomplished.In Spain, he runs an adventure tourism business and says he enjoys adventurous vacations. 976
