(KGTV) -- Customers of the Campo Group Water System are being advised that the county has issued a drinking water warning after samples found increased levels of nitrates.Sample results found that on September 2, 2020, nitrate levels exceeded the maximum contaminant level for safe drinking water.The group serves a mini mart, gasoline station, and an office, according to the county.Nitrates in drinking water are a health concern for infants less than six-months-old and pregnant women are advised not to consume the water.“Boiling, freezing, filtering, or letting water stand does not reduce the nitrate level,” the county said.The Campo Group Water System is providing bottled water until nitrate levels fall below the maximum contaminant level, the county said. 788

(KGTV) -- Police and the FBI are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of robbing a bank in Carlsbad.Carlsbad police said the robbery happened on Oct. 1, at 3:45 p.m., in the 6900 block of El Camino Real.According to police, a white man believed to be in his mid-20s entered the bank and demanded cash. The man referred to a gun during the robbery, but a firearm was not seen, police said.After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the man exited the branch and was last seen running toward Dove Lane.Police noted that “no vehicle has been associated with the suspect.”No injuries were reported during the incident.The suspected robber is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has a thin build. (KGTV) — Lhooq Books is the kind of place where easy reads mix with just about everything else.Owner Sean Christopher has spent years building this collection and re-building the location."Basically replaced, repaired or deep cleaned absolutely every inch of the property," Christopher says.He spent thousands of dollars turning a run down shack into an overstuffed book store, coffee bar, and community library and arts hub. He rents the space and his home next door from the same property management company. But this fall, when he called to ask about his lease, he instead got a 60-day notice to vacate."It was complete and utter shock because there was not even a hint of anything wrong going on," Christopher said.He acknowledges the owner has the right to end the lease, but 60 days to move his home and his business is overwhelming. When he asked the owner for an extension, he got an even surprising response."The property manager rep said do not contact him again, if you do, we consider it harassment and we'll give you a 3-day notice. Gavin Newsom signed a bill Saturday that allows transgender inmates to be housed in jails or prisons based on their gender identity.SB 132 says that during the initial intake process, the California Department of Corrections is required to note each incoming inmate's gender identity, whether they identify as "transgender, nonbinary, or intersex" and the inmate's gender pronouns. The inmate will then be sent to an appropriate facility based on their gender identity.The state cannot deny an inmate's request solely based on their anatomy or sexual orientation. However, ABC News reports that the state can deny requests if the inmate poses a "management or security concern." In that case, the state must provide the inmate with a written statement explaining their decision and give the inmate an opportunity to object.Previously, inmates were sent to facilities based on their birth gender. A 2009 study by the University of California, Irvine found that transgender inmates in the state were 13 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than an average inmate. A separate federal study done between 2011 and 2012 found that about 12% of non-heterosexual inmates reported being sexually victimized — a rate about 10 times higher than those of heterosexual inmates.According to ABC News, transgender women housed in facilities for men are among those most at risk of being assaulted."It's just a false narrative about transgender people and about transgender women in particular that they're somehow not really women and are just trying to scam their way into women's bathrooms or facilities in order to do bad things," State Sen. CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) - A massive training exercise coordinated between three Marine Corps. Air Stations in the Southwest took flight Monday.The goal is to ensure Marines and Sailors are ready if they need to move hundreds of troops and supplies fast. The exercise is comprised of about 1,300 troops, from MCAS Miramar, Camp Pendleton and Yuma. It took three months of planning."It really stretches all the muscles for all of the units to support something big like this," Lt. Col. Nathan Storm said.The training is almost twice as big as prior similar trainings."It gives I Marine Expeditionary Force the opportunity to get together and practice large scale operations like this for operations wherever the Marine Corps may send us in order to defend the United States," Lt. Col. Storm said.This particular mission is to take over an airbase and secure it as a supply route, "not that we’re necessarily planning for anything like that but we always have to be ready and be lethal for that eventuality," he said.Dozens of aircraft were meticulously coordinated to come in and take off in waves.
