She was trying to get home to San Francisco."So the plan is right now I think there’s a flight I can get for 0 one way or tomorrow 0 one way... I’m taking the cheaper option so I know there’s going to be complications but there’s not enough options," she said, wishing California had a bullet train.Now she's thinking twice about riding in the future, "I already have a flight booked for Christmas down here because it’s easier, but it’s too bad because I wish we had a better railroad system."Multiple passengers told 10News the trains are sold out for the rest of the weekend so they couldn't get back home before work on Monday.One piece of good news, the work expected to start 6 a.m. and continue until midnight, wrapped up early. DENVER — A Denver couple that drove to Little Rock, Arkansas to pick up three puppies purchased online, is now warning others about a pet scam that cost them hundreds of dollars.Breckenridge and Mary Lynn Grover love French bulldogs. They had two until September when their beloved “Derby” died.“He’d eaten supper and went outside,” Breckenridge Grover said. “I heard a scream, went downstairs and saw him lying down.”He said he tried to resuscitate the dog.“He died in my arms of a heart attack,” he said.The couple told KMGH that with Derby gone, their other French bulldog, Liza Jane, became listless and depressed.Last month, they decided to look online for a new dog, as a companion for Liza Jane.Seller pours on the charmThey found a pug in Austin. Mary Lynn Grover said the owner asked them to send money via the Zelle app.They hadn’t used it before but thought they’d give it a try, then had second thoughts.“We did everything,” she said. “Wells Fargo was wonderful getting things back, saying ‘I think this guy chickened out. He didn’t even have a Zelle account.’ ”The Grovers continued their search, trying to be more cautious the second time around.They found three French bulldogs via online advertisements and said the seller poured on the charm.“He said, ‘Now you are part of my family. These were my mother’s puppies.’ He even sent us a picture of the kennel he was buying for us and said, ‘I will make dinner.’ I mean he knew me as a soft spot. He said all the right things to me.”The Denver couple drove to Arkansas. But halfway there they received a phone call.“He said, ‘Oh, by the way, could you also pick up a gift card at Walmart?’ ”Mary Lynn said that’s when the red flags went up.She said they didn’t pick up a gift card; they just kept driving.“I texted him, saying ‘We’re coming.’ We got to the house; it’s dark,” she said.There was no answer at the door, so Mary Lynn Grover called the two numbers they had for the seller, who said his name was Bill Todd.“A woman answered and asked, ‘How did you get this number?’ I described what happened. DENVER, Colo. — On Wednesday, a Boulder man released videos of his July 29 arrest, and said he's ready to take action against the Denver Police Department for "savagely" beating him. He also claims an officer sexually assaulted him with a baton.Michael Jacobs, a self-described student activist, was arrested on July 29 during a "Stop the Sweep" homeless protest at Lincoln Park, across from the Colorado State Capitol.He says he was rattling a fence at Lincoln Park to get an officer's attention and says he was taken down by officers."I was grabbed from behind, it felt like it was from my neck, no warning, no 'you're under arrest,'" Jacobs said.It's important to stress that little is known about what led up to the takedown. Video shows people shaking a fence at the park and then the takedown.In the video, you see an officer run towards Jacobs and then several officers holding him down. You can briefly see an officer use his baton against Jacobs in the recording."One of the officers took his baton, lifted it in the air and forcefully shoved it into my a**," Jacobs said.A probable cause statement released by the Denver Police Department claims Jacobs was part of a group trying to push down a gate at Lincoln Park and adds that they managed to bring it down and get inside.But in the video, Jacobs is outside of the fence.The police report states Jacobs violently resisted arrest and even grabbed an officer's pepper ball gun. It's a claim Jacobs and his attorney, Dr. Matt Greife, dispute."That could not be further from the truth," Jacobs said."To say that he attempted to disarm a police officer of their pepper gun or pepper ball gun, that's nonsense, he was on the ground way too fast," Dr. Greife said.According to Dr. Greife, it's been challenging to obtain vital evidence they should be granted to prepare for a lawsuit and a civil claim they plan to file."We should know what the police reports say. We should know what the body cams tell us," Dr. Greife said.Denver police say they launched an internal investigation and added that it would be inappropriate to comment further.Medical records provided by Jacobs' attorney to KMGH show a doctor couldn't conclusively identify sexual abuse from the incident.Jacobs is facing a felony charge of attempting to disarm a police officer. DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) -- High winds in the Descanso area knocked over two big rig trucks early Thursday morning, prompting emergency crews to rescue people trapped inside.At around 4 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were called to eastbound Interstate 8 near Japatul Valley Road after reports a semitruck toppled over due to the strong winds swirling in the area.Two people were removed from the truck and taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.Moments later and a few hundred feet away, crews rushed to another big rig that was knocked down by the winds.Crews broke the truck’s windshield and extricated a man, woman and dog trapped inside the cab. It is unknown if the couple and dog were injured.A High Wind Advisory was issued for I-8 from Lake Jennings to Forrester Road; high-profile vehicles are prohibited on that stretch of I-8. 872
