(KGTV) -- A woman died early Sunday morning after her vehicle rolled over on a North County road before being struck by several other drivers suspected of driving under the influence.According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of SR-78 near Mar Vista Drive.CHP says the 33-year-old woman from Oceanside was driving her Toyota Carolla when she veered off the road onto a dirt shoulder. The 33-year-old driver of the Corolla died at the scene, CHP said, and the 54-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. According to officers, after the second crash, a 38-year-old man also from San Marcos crashed into both of the vehicles previously involved in the crash. The driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital.The drivers of the vehicles involved in the second and third crashes are both suspected of driving under the influence.The District Attorney’s office also responded to the scene after being requested by officers to aid in the investigation.SR-78 west is currently closed. Tribune Media found another buyer after its last merger was scuttled.Nexstar Media Group announced Monday it will buy Tribune's 42 television stations and cable network in an all-cash .1 billion deal. The merger will form the nation's largest TV station company. Tribune's stock (TRCO) is surging 10% in premarket trading.The acquisition comes four months after Sinclair Broadcast Group's attempted purchase of Tribune was terminated. The two companies are still embroiled in lawsuits over the failed merger, which came under intense scrutiny from government regulators and criticism from public watchdogs.The sheer size of Nexstar will massively enlarge the Texas-based media company. The city also said it has extended the stance to commercial uses.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Amid new COVID-19 restrictions, some local churches and gyms are expected to begin using San Diego's parks to conduct operations outside beginning Monday morning.City Councilman Chris Cate proposed the idea in mid-July, and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved a similar ordinance for county parks on Aug. 5.The ordinance means the City of San Diego's more than 300 parks, 26 miles of shoreline, and 57 recreation centers could be used for gyms, fitness classes, and worship services, however social distancing and face coverings are still encouraged.The ordinance defers park permit fees for 60 days. Mayor Kevin Faulconer will bring an ordinance to the council once it is back in session in September to make the waiving of fees permanent.This latest move is Faulconer's third executive order allowing for some businesses to operate outside.Previously, he had allowed for some retail and restaurants, and subsequently for gyms, barbershops, hair salons, and massage businesses to expand to sidewalks and private parking lots.In Poway, officials approved a plan to share park space with places of worship and fitness centers. 1404

TUCSON, Ariz. - An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper intentionally collided with a wrong-way vehicle on Oct. 14.According to DPS, a trooper was assisting a stranded driver on the I-10 near Avra Valley. The trooper heard reports of a wrong-way vehicle traveling east within the westbound traffic lanes on I-10.The trooper found the wrong-way vehicle, approaching the car head-on near Cortaro Road. The trooper intentionally aligned the front left corner of his patrol vehicle with the front left corner of the wrong-way vehicle - forcing a collision that immediately stopped the wrong-way driver.DPS said the wrong-way driver was a disoriented, elderly woman. She was not properly restrained during the collision and sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to Banner University Medical Center.The trooper was treated for minor injuries.“The ability of our trooper to assess the situation and take decisive action to stop the wrong-way vehicle, protected the lives of many motorists while endangering his own," said DPS Director, Colonel Frank Milstead.
