MIAMI — Residents of Bermuda are urged by forecasters to prepare to protect life and property ahead of Hurricane Paulette. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Paulette is expected to grow into a dangerous storm as it approaches the territory Sunday. It has maximum sustained winds at 75 mph that are expected to intensify. It's the strongest in terms of winds of six disturbances the center is tracking in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Tropical Storm Sally is threatening the Gulf Coast with dangerous storm surge, heavy rainfall and strong winds. Two tropical depressions and two other disturbances were also at sea or in the Gulf. 653

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville, Kentucky, has banned the use of controversial "no-knock" warrants and named the new ordinance for Breonna Taylor.Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville officers who burst into her home in March. Her death, along with the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, have sparked a largely peaceful protest movement across the country, calling for significant changes in policing and an end to systemic racism.Louisville Metro Council unanimously voted Thursday night to ban the controversial warrants after days of protests and calls for reform. According to NPR, the law also requires police to wear body cameras when serving warrants and turn them on five minutes before entering a person's home.Taylor was killed on March 13 when police served a no-knock warrant on her home as part of a narcotics investigation. Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired at police, thinking they were intruders. Police returned fire and shot Taylor dead.No drugs were found at her home. No charges have been filed in connection to Taylor's death.Taylor's mother, Tamika Palmer, said the new law will save lives.Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul also introduced federal legislation Thursday that would ban the use of no-knock warrants nationwide. 1256

Many people could probably use a haircut right now, after six months of a global pandemic, but probably not like Ewenice the sheep in Australia. She was recently found wandering with about 4-years of growth needing to be sheared off.The abandoned sheep was found in a heavily wooded area in southeast Australia, roaming on a property with no nearby flock or owner. A person spotted the sheep, burdened with the extra large fleece, and reported it to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or RSPCA.The RSPCA estimates the sheep, who they named Ewenice, had not been trimmed in about four years.Ewenice was checked over, given a haircut, and sent to a new home. About 44 pounds of wool was sheared off.“Carrying such a large fleece for an extended period of time would have had dire impact on this ewe’s welfare and quality of life. It was fantastic to see her transformation after shearing and to send her on to her new home,” said Head of Inspectorate Terry Ness.Fleece must be shorn regularly because sheep are unable to shed. 1057

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's office for environmental protection says it has filed a criminal complaint against the organizers of the Score Baja 1000 off-road race for damaging protected desert areas. The office said Thursday that some participants in the Nov. 14-18 race departed from agreed-on routes and damaged cactuses and other desert plants in the Valle de los Cirios protected area. Inspectors found damaged choya, agave and cardon plants.Score International spokesman Juan Tintos Funcke says the Reno, Nevada-based company has not received any formal notification from Mexican authorities. Tintos Funcke's statement adds that "as soon as we do we will coordinate ourselves with them in order to attend to it."The race starts from Ensenada in Baja California state. 779

Medical patients in need of emergency care in especially hilly or rocky terrain in the United Kingdom could soon be visited by a paramedic wearing a jetpack. The Great North Air Ambulance Service, GNAAS, is a non-profit emergency service that operates in the north of England. Their coverage area includes some of the mountainous terrain in the country. Thanks to a partnership with Gravity Industries, reaching patients in this rough terrain could get a lot faster, boosted by a jet suit.Recently, a test flight of the jet suit in a simulated emergency rescue situation showed a huge difference in travel time. The test pilot arrived in 90 seconds, where it would take emergency responders roughly 25 minutes to reach by foot. 733
