VACAVILLE, Calif. (KGTV) — Body camera footage shows the chaotic moments northern California police officers jumped into action to help save animals from a shelter in the path of the Nelson Fire.Vacaville Police officers were called in to help evacuate animals from the Solano SPCA animal shelter Saturday, as flames threatened the shelter.Video shows officers racing into the shelter and pulling animals from their cages. In some cases, animals were loaded directly into police cars, while others were placed in crates before being loaded in vehicles.RELATED: Firefighters battling Holy Fire care for dehydrated?fawnMore than 60 animals were in the shelter, according to SPCA."All animals are safe in foster homes at this time. Unfortunately, we do not have power or water at this time but all 60 of our animals are safe in foster homes for the time being," SPCA said on Facebook. "We are hoping to get in there tomorrow to clean up the ash and debris inside our kennel building and around the property."Fire crews were able to halt the flames before they hit the animal shelter."Fire crews were still working today putting out hot spots and we are grateful for their hard work," the shelter said. UPDATE: Suspect Brandon Alexander is in custody, and the Xavier Alexander and his mother are safe, Upland police say. They were found in Claremont, California, just west of Upland.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 15-month-old child is missing, and police are looking for the child's father in connection with the abduction.The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert Saturday night for a 2017 grey Jeep Renegade, California license plate 8DQT883.Authorities believe 31-year-old Brandon Alexander, may have kidnapped his son, 15-month-old Xavier Alexander. The pair were last seen at 5:45 a.m. Saturday in Upland, California, which is in San Bernardino County. Brandon Alexander is considered to be armed and dangerous.Brandon Alexander may have also taken the child's mother, according to Upland Police. Police say she is a white female in her early thirties. She has a restraining order against him, police said.Brandon Alexander is described as 5' 10" and 240 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Xavier Alexander is 2' 6" and weighs 30 pounds, also with brown hair and blue eyes. VENTURA, Calif. (KGTV) - A suspect who led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit onto the 101 Freeway died of an apparent poisoning.The chase began Wednesday in Oxnard during a vehicle check, according to ABC-affiliate KABC. CHP officials said information came back on the car belonging to a rape suspect. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused, KABC reported.The chase continued northbound onto the 101 Freeway and ended in Ventura. The vehicle came to a stop in the center median, though CHP officers told KABC it's unclear if the suspect crashed of stopped the vehicle on his own.The suspect was seen motionless outside his vehicle, with the passenger-side glass shattered, according to KABC. Officers told the station they believed the suspect possibly poisoned himself.No officers were reportedly injured.Both sides of the 101 Freeway were initially shut down between Sanjon Road to Seaward Avenue, but some lanes have since reopened, KABC reported. 1028
