SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Vandals damaged a park in Sabre Springs Thursday night, dumping sand into toilets and scrawling inappropriate graffiti on the walls. Trash cans were emptied out and piles of wood chips were dumped along the entrance to the South Creek Neighborhood Park. The clogged toilets and sinks caused minor flooding in the bathrooms. Some of the plumbing was also damaged, according to the San Diego Police Department. City crews cleaned up the mess by the afternoon. Police were still searching for the culprits Friday. 537

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A trip to a dog park in Ocean Beach ended in a hospital visit for one San Diego couple.“I want her to go to jail, she assaulted my husband, and I’m angry about it,” said Ash O’Brien.O'Brien said she and her husband were at Dusty Rhodes Dog Park in Ocean Beach Thursday afternoon with their three-month-old puppy. They sat at a picnic table and began enjoying a meal when a woman reportedly confronted them for not wearing facial coverings and eating at the park where there is a no food policy.The confrontation ended with O’Brien’s husband being pepper-sprayed by the woman.“If we knew there was a no food policy, we wouldn’t have brought it into the park,” said O’Brien. “The lady who maced him automatically started saying stuff about us not wearing a mask when we were social distancing; there was no one near us.”O’Brien said that after exchanging words, the woman walked away from the picnic table but returned after a few minutes and did the unexpected.“She just came up without saying anything and just stuck the mace can right in front of my face,” said O’Brien.“My husband, being a good guy, walked in front of her and was like ‘hey calm down please don’t do this’ and then she grabbed him and just starting macing him, she used the entire can on him.”“We drove to the hospital, he got treated and everything,” said O’Brien.O’Brien said the pepper spray got on her arms and started to burn, while her husband was sprayed in the face.A witness captured part of the incident on camera and told ABC 10News she was shocked at what she was seeing. She recorded the woman’s license plate number.The couple filed a police report with the San Diego Police Department. The department confirmed they took a misdemeanor battery report but could not immediately provide further details.O’Brien was thankful none of the dogs at the park were injured by the pepper spray and wants the woman to be held accountable for the incident.“People don’t need to be getting assaulted for not wearing a mask in a public outdoor area,” she said. 2055

A company, that according to its website, ‘Cleans beyond what the eye can see.’ And in the age of COVID, business is good.“I’ve actually been able to bring people who needed work a source of income and employment,” says Jackson.For an essential business like Truvian Sciences, a COVID outbreak and loss of employees would be a devastating blow to its progress.“People touch stuff all day long. I’m a TSA guy,” says Jackson wiping down cabinet handles.T-S-A is Jackson’s term for Touch Sensitive Areas. He knows where bacteria live and how to kill it. But how he learned these skills is a complicated journey.“It was like graduating from the school of hard knocks, literally,” says Jackson remembering.That school was at the California City Correctional Facility.“I was incarcerated on weapons charges,” says Jackson.Jackson joined an Oceanside gang when he was just 14 and was in prison by the age of 24. After years in and out, he chose a different path that would offer a new life. He joined a prison work program that taught him how to clean and disinfect hospitals with the highest standards.“Everything I know about cleaning, that’s going to be my ticket when I get home,” added Jackson thinking back to his final months in prison.And that’s when Jackson was introduced to Defy Ventures. Timothy has been out of prison for 3 ? years and continues to rebuild his life.“For somebody to be able to do that, it just spoke volumes to me,” says Lt. He was Jackson’s initial arresting officer.“My first experience with Timothy was on the night we arrested him,” adds Valdovinos.Now the two speak together, offering a way out to troubled youth in Oceanside.“It’s my favorite part of the program,” says Valdovinos. “When we let the kids know our past and that bond we have, it is incredible the look on their faces.”For Jackson, it is a surreal moment every time.“I never thought that I would be asked by law enforcement to do such a thing,” says Jackson. “You won’t catch me on the other side of that recidivism number.” 3680
