The tip that triggered the investigation into the largest alleged collegiate entrance scam ever prosecuted came from a financial executive's last-ditch effort to squirm out of the crosshairs of federal authorities, a law enforcement official said. The executive, identified by the Wall Street Journal as Morrie Tobin, was being investigated as part of a separate financial fraud case and gave investigators enough information that they were able to identify 469

There's a lot of hype around 5G, the new faster cell phone service.T-Mobile started offering 5G nationwide this week. Now, the first thing you need to know is it's not really nationwide."To be clear that’s 60% of the U.S. population. That’s not quite nationwide but its way better than all the other services we've had up until now,” said Bob O’Donnell, President of TECHnalysis Research.O’Donnell says another thing you need to know is not all 5G is created equal. There are two main types cell carriers offer. One has super-fast speeds but only in a short range. The other has longer range but the speed isn't quite as fast as the other 5G.Another complicated and expensive factor in all this is you need a new 5G phone to access the network.Cell companies will sell you a 5G phone that works with their service. But right now, there's no guarantee if you switch cell carriers that your new 5G phone will work with a different 5G service.“Look to be honest unless you are a really cutting-edge early adopter and there are people like that then it’s probably better to wait because you want to wait until they get phones that support both of those standards I mentioned,” said O’Donnell. Apple doesn't even have a 5G iPhone yet. That's not expected to come out until next year. There are some Android 5G models for sale now but like O’Donnell mentioned, most of us can probably hold off. 1398

The State Department on Monday said it would not be distributing a transcript or list of attendees from a briefing call with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held that evening -- a call from which the department's press corps was excluded and only "faith-based media" allowed. The afternoon phone briefing was to discuss "international religious freedom" with the secretary -- who rarely participates in such calls -- ahead of his trip to the Middle East. One member of the State Department press corps was invited, only to be un-invited after RSVPing. That reporter was told that the call was for "faith-based media only."CNN also RSVP'd to organizers, asking to be included, but received no reply.Despite repeated inquires and complaints from members of the press corps who are based at the department, the State Department on Monday night said they would not be providing a transcript of the call, a list of faith-based media outlets who were allowed to participate or the criteria to be invited.Officials would not answer questions about whether a range of faiths was included.A reporter with EWTN Global Catholic Television told CNN they were not originally invited but had asked the State Department if they could take part and were allowed. An article from 1272

The sun still hasn’t come up in Sacramento, California, as Paul Harrison makes his safety checks for the school bus he drives. The Twin Rivers school district bus yard is busy just before 6 a.m. All the drivers are getting ready to pick up the kids. But Harrison is driving a slightly different model than some of his co-workers.“I believe it’s been about three years we’ve been driving these electric buses," he said. "There’s no gas, there’s no emissions."His is one of 30 electric school buses owned by the district, about half their fleet. His boss, Tim Shannon, hopes one day the district's entire fleet will be electric.“As the range gets better on electric school buses have a 100 percent electric fleet within the next three and a half to four years," said Shannon. While the overall goal is to help reduce the districts carbon footprint, Harrison says he notices differences while he drives.“When you’re driving this bus, there’s no diesel, there’s no fuel to work with, there’s no natural pumps that you have to hook up,” said Harrison. And so do the students he drives to school every day.“The electric buses, they don’t have that smell and you can actually kind of breathe,” said Carrissa Stevens, an 8th-grader at Symthe Middle School. She likes the fact that buses don’t smell like diesel and she likes that she’s doing her part to help the environment.“If we didn’t take care of the environment, I don’t think any of us would be here. But I also care about the animals and the plants and all that because it’s important,” said Stevens. And she may not know it, but she’s also helping her parents and other tax payers save some money.“I would tell you the current savings with the buses we have is close to 0,000 a year,” said Shannon. And he only expects the savings to increase over time and as they get more buses. While there is a heavy start up cost associated with buying electric buses and installing chargers, they’re much cheaper to maintain than their diesel counterparts.“You’re getting almost triple the tire life out of a tire. You’re getting over double the break life out of the breaks because of regenerative breaking," explained Shannon. "The average mile it costs us to drive an electric bus is between The Trump administration attempted to soften the blow and political pain of the longest-ever government shutdown earlier this year by continuing to issue food stamps, a move that violated federal law, the Government Accountability Office concluded Thursday. The GAO, a watchdog and non-political arm of Congress, 324.15 and <云转化_句子>.19. You know that these 40, 50 kids are here waiting and depending on you because you’re there everyday at the same time," said Harrison. "They know you by name. They look forward to seeing you; you look forward to seeing them. And that says a lot." 2733
