Florida Republican Rep. Dennis Ross is retiring after eight years of serving in the US House."After thoughtful prayer and consideration, my wife Cindy and I decided that I will not seek re-election for a fifth-term in office," Ross wrote in a statement posted to Facebook Wednesday morning."I am grateful for this incredible opportunity to serve and I look forward to the next chapter of my life which will include, in some way, continued public service."Ross wrote that he plans on returning to Lakeland, Florida, the district he represents, and practicing law.The Tampa Bay Times was the first to report on Ross' retirement."Eight years takes its time on you. ... Five days after the tragic bus crash in Saskatchewan, Canada involving a junior hockey team's bus, the team's trainer, Dayna Brons, died on Wednesday as result of her injuries. Brons, 25, became the 16th confirmed fatality from Friday's bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos. "Dayna will be forever remembered for her joyful smile, and her passion and love of sport," her family said in a statement.The team was traveling from Humboldt to its playoff game in Nipawin, Saskatchewan when a semi-trailer plowed into the bus, which carried 29 people. TSN reported that as of Wednesday, 10 people remain hospitalized from last week's crash.The Broncos play in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, which is made up of players aged 16 to 21, who compete at junior hockey's second-highest level. Also on Wednesday, the league opted to continue with its playoffs. Nipawin, which held a 3-1 series lead over Humboldt, will advance to the league finals to take on Estevan. The plan to move forward with the playoffs was approved by representatives from the league's 12 teams, including Humboldt.  1143

For just the third time on record, a fourth tropical storm has formed in the Atlantic basin by the end of June, marking an active start to hurricane season.Tropical Storm Dolly formed on Tuesday off the coast of Maine, packing top winds of 45 MPH as of the 5 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center. The system is not expected to strengthen into a hurricane, and should weaken into a depression over the next day.The system is notable as it’s the second-earliest system to use a “D” name in the Atlantic.Last month, experts from the National Hurricane Center said that the 2020 hurricane season would likely be above average.“NOAA’s analysis of current and seasonal atmospheric conditions reveals a recipe for an active Atlantic hurricane season this year,” said Neil Jacobs, Ph.D., acting NOAA administrator. “Our skilled forecasters, coupled with upgrades to our computer models and observing technologies, will provide accurate and timely forecasts to protect life and property.”Government forecasts projected there would be 13 to 19 tropical storms in the Atlantic. First lady Melania Trump was released from the hospital Saturday morning, her office confirmed."The first lady returned home to the White House this morning.
