SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Zoo and Safari Park hope to reopen "in the coming weeks" now that California has released guidance for zoos to open their gates starting Friday.Last week, the state released guidance for county's approved for accelerated reopenings to open businesses like zoos, family entertainment centers, gyms, bars and wineries, and more starting June 12.(The state's criteria for sectors can be found here.)In a statement to 10News, the zoo said staff are reviewing the state's guidance to plan how to best reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic:"We are delighted to receive word from the Governor letting us know that the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park will be able to open this month. We can’t wait to invite our community back to the zoo and park in the coming weeks. We have just received information from the State regarding the requirements and guidelines for us to re-open and are reviewing this document so we can determine next steps to open safely and responsibly for our community. While the attractions will all be ready to reopen on July 1 if authorized, the plan now moves on to State officials for additional review and guidance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fischer was re-assigned to administrative duties after a woman's allegations of inappropriate behavior surfaced this week.Now, a San Marcos woman is alleging Fischer did the same thing to her last year.    The woman is accusing Fischer of inappropriate conduct and touching in August of 2016, according to her attorney, Dan Gilleon.RELATED: Woman claims she was groped by San Diego deputy, files claim against department"Her house was burglarized during in the day and Fischer was one of the deputies that arrived to investigate the burglaries. They all leave," Gilleon said of his client's claims.Later, Gilleon said she heard a knock at her door."It's Deputy Fischer again. She opens the door and he looks at her and says, 'It looks like you could use a hug,' and without her consent reaches in and hugs her," Gilleon said.Gilleon added Fischer knew no one else was home."It shocks her, she's startled. The hairs going up on the back of the next," Gilleon said, alleging Fischer then uses the same ruse as another woman claims - asking to use the bathroom."Now he's deeper into the house and hugs her again. Now she's resisting and walks him to the door and he says - don't worry. I'll be in the community and I'll be keeping an eye out for you," Gilleon said.The second woman saw a news story about the other woman's similar allegations and recognized Fischer, according to her attorney."When she saw the story she knew word needed to get out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- School superintendents from South Bay, Cajon Valley, Escondido and Chula Vista Elementary came together for a virtual roundtable Wednesday. The meeting comes days after Governor Gavin Newsom released a mandate saying students can only return to campus when the county has been off the state’s watchlist for two weeks.The discussion focused on tackling challenges for the upcoming school year. All four districts say one of the main issues is a lack of funding.“I listened to the governor speaking about how money has come to school districts,” said Dr. Katie McNamara, superintendent of South Bay Union School District. “It’s good to note that none of that money has arrived yet.”She says they’ve had to dip into the district’s general funds to pay for things like PPE and improving distance learning models.Cajon Valley reopened in-person summer programs last week and say they will be staying open.The County Office of Education says the governor’s order does not apply to camps or day cares.“We have almost 5,000 students on campus, today, right now in a version of summer school that we're calling child care.”The Chula Vista Elementary Union superintendent, Dr. Francisco Escobdedo says they’re paying close attention to testing.“In order for us to feel safe our contagion levels have to lower, the curve has to plateau.”Escobedo adds they’re working on providing more internet hot spots for families who need it. 1446

Average monthly costs in America's Finest City came in at about ,665, the study revealed.In San Diego, prices were broken down by rent for a one-bedroom apartment, utilities, internet, gasoline, and groceries for one month:Rent: ,970.93Utilities: 1.66Internet: .05Gasoline: 6.15Groceries: 2.07Prices were pulled from Numbeo's updated estimates in June 2019.Charting as the absolute worst cities for cost of living where San Francisco (,210.60 a month), New York City (,956.11 a month), and San Jose, Calif. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police saved a driver whose SUV got stuck in the path of an oncoming train in Little Italy Tuesday morning.The vehicle was stuck on the track at 1:30 a.m. near West Grape Street and California Street, approximately 100 yards south of the railroad crossing.Police were on the scene and helped the driver out of the SUV, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies who assisted in the investigation.A southbound Amtrak train was traveling 35 miles an hour when the train operator saw the vehicle on the track.The operator applied the emergency brake but was unable to stop in time, and collided with the vehicle.The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Neither the driver nor any passenger on the train was hurt. 771
