It’s a simple message: “Count every vote."It's what a crowd in Pennsylvania is chanting, as officials continue counting ballots in the battleground state. For Kierstyn Zolfo, it’s a personal one.“We believe that every vote needs to be counted,” she said. “I voted by mail-in, and I do that regularly anyway because I have disability issues.”Her mobility may be limited, but her voice--and those of others in this crowd--are not. Just 30 miles north of Philadelphia, in the all-important suburbs and outside the Bucks County Elections Office, residents rallied.“We're also here to celebrate that we're outside of the place that the votes were being counted,” said Marlene Pray, who organized the rally. It’s an effort called Protect The Vote. They are pushing to make sure every vote in the state, no matter the party affiliation, gets counted.“It's a completely nonpartisan effort. We just want to make sure that every vote gets counted,” said Bob Edwards with Protect The Vote. “I mean, what could be more simple and what more American than that?”Yet, the Trump campaign is suing Pennsylvania on several legal fronts, hoping to block certain mail-in votes, votes that the Pennsylvania Secretary of State said were legally cast by the millions there in the largest numbers ever seen in the state. The potential for multiple legal challenges here in Pennsylvania looms large, especially for ballots received after Election Day, which by state law, can still be counted if they were postmarked on Election Day and are delivered to elections offices by Friday.“This is profoundly important,” Pray said.It is something Kierstyn Zolfo sees, as well.“This is about American principles,” she said, “counting every vote.” 1719

INDIANAPOLIS -- Friday was a busy day for Vice President Mike Pence Friday, as he made several stops in the Indianapolis area.First, the vice president and second lady visited with soldiers from the Indiana National Guard's 38th Infantry Division at Stout Field Indiana National Guard Training Center. The soldiers were training in a command and control exercise to maintain their readiness."We are here because tomorrow is Armed Forces Day. Today we are grateful for everyone who puts on the uniform, including in our all-volunteer Army. Whether you put on the uniform to protect your community at home or whether you put on the uniform to protect the nation, I assure you that the people of this country are grateful and proud of your service," said Vice President Pence. 790

It seems the “chicken wars” between fast-food restaurants are heating up once again.Last week, McDonald’s introduced its new spicy chicken McNuggets, which will compete with Wendy’s spicy nuggets. Now, Shake Shack has entered the roost. The restaurant known for its burgers announced Tuesday that its Hot Chick’n will be back for a limited time starting Tuesday. The item has been on the menu twice before. Now it's back and “ready to throw down in the chicken sandwich category,” a representative for Shake Shack said. The spicy version of the restaurant’s Chick’n Shack sandwich is made with real chicken breast (no added hormones or antibiotics) that is slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour and crisp-fried. The chicken is then dusted with a guajillo and cayenne pepper blend, topped with Shack-made cherry-pepper slaw and pickles, all served on a potato bun.Hot Chick’n is also returning with brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, made with the same guajillo and cayenne pepper dusting. All four Hot Chick’n items are available in two spice levels, hot and extra hot, and will be at Shake Shack locations nationwide, some exclusions may apply. Guests who order Hot Chick’n through the Shack App or order.shakeshack.com can get access to a third spice level, fire."When developing our Hot Chick’n menu, featuring the Hot Chick’n sandwich and brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, we wanted to make sure we launched them in an elevated way, inspired by our deep culinary roots and emphasis on premium ingredients," said Mark Rosati, Culinary Director at Shake Shack. 1718

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 16-year-old adopted son of a man killed in a house fire last week has been charged as an adult with murder, arson and auto theft, court records show.Jordan Marin-Doan, 16, was arrested on Saturday in connection to the fire that killed his adopted father, 45-year-old Jason Doan, last Thursday.Doan’s husband, Alan Marin, and their two other adopted children were able to escape the home safely.Marin told police he and his husband woke up to find a fire blocking their exit. Doan helped Marin and two of their children escape through an upstairs window, before succumbing to the flames and smoke inhalation."He saved me and my kids," Marin said. "He gave his life for us, making sure we were OK. He got me out with my kids and told me to take them to a safe place. That was his priority -- our kids -- making sure they were safe."READ | Indy fire leaves man in critical conditionAfter escaping the house, Marin realized his adopted son, Marin-Doan, was missing along with the family's Jeep.Marin-Doan was taken into custody in Adams County two days after the fire.On Tuesday, Marin-Doan was waived to adult court, court records show.According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, fire investigators determined a fuel commonly used in weed eaters had been poured on the carpet of a stairwell in the house.Following his arrest, Marin-Doan reportedly admitted to police that he poured the fuel out in the house and then lit it with a lighter.Marin told police that Marin-Doan had been threatening to kill everyone in the house. According to the affidavit, the most recent threat was made on Oct. 28 – less than a week before the fire.Marin-Doan allegedly wanted to kill his adopted parents so “he could get a cell next to his biological father in prison.”Police said Marin-Doan was not mad at the time of his arrest and said he did not know why he started the fire. He also allegedly told police he'd started another fire in the past at a different location. As of Tuesday evening, an initial hearing for Marin-Doan in adult court had not yet been set.  2104
