SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A jury Tuesday found a man guilty of beating and raping two women on consecutive days in 2016. Jeremiah Ira Williams, 26, was found guilty on multiple charges Tuesday, including forcible rape and false imprisonment. Williams now faces 100 years to life in prison. His sentencing will be on May 30. A prosecutor Monday urged the jury to convict Williams, who is accused of choking and raping two women in different parts of San Diego on consecutive days in 2016.A defense attorney argued that police infused suspicions from the second case into the initial attack and mishandled evidence.Williams is charged with 13 counts including forcible rape, false imprisonment, sodomy and making a criminal threat.Earlier in the trial, Williams was removed from the courtroom for being disruptive and was not present Tuesday as attorneys presented their final arguments.Deputy District Attorney Trisha Amador told jurors that Williams followed Jane Doe #1 from a parking structure to her University City apartment on August 13.With her keys in the door, she was knocked down, robbed at gunpoint and choked to a point where she thought she was going to die, the prosecutor said.After being taken inside the apartment, Williams beat and raped her, Amador argued. The next day, Williams beat and raped a woman working as a prostitute after meeting her in a motel in Grantville, Amador said.Jane Doe #2 was reportedly so terrified that she broke a window and jumped through it to get away.Deputy Public Defender Thomas Bahr told the jury that a detective had a feeling the two sexual assaults may be connected and jumped to conclusions in an attempt to solve the first attack.Bahr also told the jury that Jane Doe #2 lied throughout the investigation and said her story contained inconsistencies.Bahr said Jane Doe #1 was a “true victim,” yet she couldn’t assist police in making a composite sketch of her attacker. 1943

According to police, the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at the Mills Building on Imperial Avenue downtown. The building houses San Diego County government offices. Police say the man threatened an employee on the 5th floor of the building before damaging computer monitors in the office. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new poll shows that a majority of San Diegans support stricter gun laws in the U.S.A Survey USA poll released Sunday morning shows that 71 percent of those asked in San Diego support stricter gun laws while 18 percent say they oppose tighter gun restrictions.Meanwhile, 32 percent of those asked say even private gun ownership makes the country less safe while 29 percent says it makes no difference.Of those asked about safety, 76 percent of San Diegans say they worry their child could be a victim of a school shooting.RELATED: San Diegans rally for gun control in March for Our Lives eventsWhile 73 percent of people polled say they don’t know anyone who’s ever been a victim of gun violence, 27 percent of those polled say they worry a great deal about being a victim of a shooting.As far as a possible solution, 77 percent of people polled say Congress needs to do more to address gun violence. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local father is recovering from stab wounds after getting attacked by an intruder in his home. The man's 20-year-old son shot and killed that intruder according to San Diego Police. It happened just before 6:30 Tuesday morning at a home in the 6300 block of Lake Shore Drive in San Carlos. Neighbors heard the violence. "I heard the gunshots, it was like three or four gunshots, then screams for help immediately after," said Denise Rolla. When police got to the home, they found the suspect dead in the pool and the 54-year-old homeowner with stab wounds to the upper body. Police say the homeowner's son shot and killed the intruder, who stumbled out the back and landed in the pool. "I heard what turned out to be the suspect fall into the pool and then a couple minutes later, you could see the blood start to spread out through the pool," said Andrew Grogg, who lives right next door. There are walking paths and Mission Trails Golf Course is located behind the homes which are just southwest of Jackson Drive. Neighbors say they don't have a problem with transients in the area, but police say so far, it appears the 38-year-old suspect is homeless. His name hasn't been released. The family owns a tire shop in La Mesa. They are well known and liked in the community. "They're local business owners in the community. They're great neighbors. They're kind, they're nice," said Grogg. Police say so far, the attack appears to be random. 1472

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Republican candidate is finally in the race to become San Diego's next mayor.Thus far, the campaign to be the city's next leader has been dominated by Democrats, with no household Republicans stepping in.But earlier this month, Bay Park resident Richard Hansen re-registered from a decline-to-state to Republican in his own quest to succeed Republican Kevin Faulconer, who is termed out in 2020."I saw that there was a vacuum regarding the Republican Party putting up a candidate for mayor, and so I see a path to victory here in San Diego," Hansen said. Hansen, an ardent supporter of President Trump, is a former Democrat who left that party in 2016. He never re-registered with a party because he said he took issue with elitists in both the Democrat and Republican Parties. Hansen said, however, that he aligns with President Trump on issues such as the Second Amendment, the Border Wall, and abortion. "I just felt that Donald Trump, even though he is a billionaire, he's the blue collar billionaire," said Hansen, a real estate broker, who added he would serve the entire community as mayor. Candidates have until Dec. 5 to file nomination papers with the city of San Diego. The position is technically non-partisan. As it stands, Democrats outnumber Republicans in registration by a near two to one margin, 318,507 to 162,004. Additionally, there are more decline-to-state voters, 242,522, than Republicans in the city. "It's a blue city," said John Dadian, a political analyst. "We may have a super-duper majority on the City Council of Democrats, maybe more than exists right now, so it's just not feasible, quite honestly."A recent 10News-Union-Tribune scientific poll found Assemblyman Todd Gloria leading City Councilwoman Barbara Bry in the race. Both are Democrats. It remains to be seen whether a household GOP candidate will emerge. Tony Krvaric, who heads the Republican Party of San Diego, said he did not know Hansen and that he has encouraged current City Councilman Scott Sherman to run.
