SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A massive police presence was seen on the border of Clairemont and Bay Park after police received a call about a possible assault with a deadly weapon Monday. According to authorities, the incident happened on the 3300 block of Clairemont Avneue. After investigating, police say there was no assault. A child's grandmother called police saying there had been a shooting.The child's mother also showed up at the scene and told police the grandmother has a mental issue and that there had been no assault.  557

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Pacific Beach business owner is responding to a viral video of a worker's violent confrontation with a homeless man this week.The owner of B-Mo's Sandwich Shop, identified as Marc L., posted a message to Facebook in response to the video, which shows an employee push a table into a shirtless man's head, then begin throwing his belongings into the street.The note read in part that while he is apologetic for the events that occurred, "this person has been rather malicious to our community for over a year now."RELATED: Violent confrontation between Pacific Beach worker, homeless man caught on tape"Let me reiterate, this is no excuse for the choices and actions of our employee. However, that being said, I would ask for everyone to understand that we love this business and the Pacific Beach community immensely ... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego guitarist is bringing smiles and lifting spirits at Sharp Memorial Hospital.Mark Shatz performs for patients and anyone who walks by.“I've been a volunteer for four years and I come three afternoons a week to do this,” said Shatz. “I get a lot of thumbs up, a lot of smiles.”Shatz learned how to play guitar when he was 12 years old. He performed with a few garage bands but stopped for 33 years.“Wouldn’t you know it, somebody handed me a guitar and said ‘would you play happy birthday’,” Shatz remembered.Shatz had the idea to play for patients when he was visiting his wife in the hospital.“My wife was happy, there was a friend visiting my wife that was happy, and the patient in the other bed…I couldn't believe the reaction of the patient in the other bed,” said Shatz. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A preliminary 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck in Inyo County, just north of Ridgecrest, on Wednesday.The quake occurred at about 10:40 a.m. in the Lone Pine area, about 60 miles north of Ridgecrest, according to the USGS. There have not been any immediate reports of injury or damage.The initial 5.8 earthquake was followed by several smaller shake-ups, ranging from magnitude 2.5 to 4.6.USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map reported the quake was felt as far away as Fresno to the north, Los Angeles to the south, and Las Vegas, Nev., to the east. There was no threat of a tsunami due to the quake, according to the National Tsunami Warning Center.The earthquake comes a day after a 7.5-magnitude quake struck Mexico's southern coastline, just east of the popular tourist destination Huatulco, Oaxaca. 822
