ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Carole Baskin of “Tiger King” fame is being sued for defamation by a former assistant. As part of the lawsuit, the daughters of Baskin’s former husband are seeking more information about what happened to their father, who disappeared mysteriously more than two decades ago. The amended complaint to an earlier lawsuit was filed Tuesday in state court in Tampa by Don Lewis’ three daughters as well as his former assistant, Anne McQueen. The lawsuit says Baskin defamed McQueen by posting a video diary entry on YouTube earlier this month in which she says McQueen played a role in Lewis’ disappearance. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) – A father and his young son were hospitalized after a fire erupted at their mobile home in Oceanside.The fire was reported Tuesday at around 10:30 p.m. at a mobile home park on 251 Blue Springs Lane, according to Oceanside Fire officials.Witnesses told ABC 10News that the blaze started in the back of a mobile home, trapping a man and his son inside.As flames engulfed the home, some neighbors tried to put out the fire by spraying water from garden hoses.However, one neighbor heard banging coming from a window and a call for help. That neighbor got to the window, smashed it, and was then handed the boy by his father. Moments later, the neighbor helped the father crawl through the broken window.Responding firefighters were able to knock the fire down within 20 minutes. No other homes appeared to have been damaged by the blaze.ABC 10News learned the child was airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.The boy’s father was transported by helicopter to UC San Diego’s Burn Center with burn injuries and cuts from the broken window.The cause of the fire is under investigation. 1146

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Almost two months after reopening, Universal Orlando is laying off an undisclosed number of workers. Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email Monday that the Florida theme park resort was reducing its workforce "to reflect current priorities and needs." Universal has put the construction of a new theme park, Epic Universe, on pause because of the pandemic. Universal Orlando closed its doors in March as the novel coronavirus started spreading in the U.S. It was the first of Orlando's major theme park operators to reopen when it welcomed back visitors in early June.
