XIANGNING, Shanxi, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Sixty of the 115 workers who were pulled out alive after being trapped for over a week in a flooded coal mine in north China will be transferred to big city hospitals for better medical treatment, local authorities late Monday.Currently, the survivors are being treated at five hospitals near Wangjialing Coal Mine, which straddles Xiangning County, of Linfen City, and Hejin City, of Yuncheng City, in Shanxi Province.The Shanxi provincial government and medical experts dispatched by the Health Ministry have decided to transfer 60 rescued miners to key hospitals in the provincial capital Taiyuan Tuesday to receive better treatment.A special train will be deployed by the Ministry of Railways to take the patients to Taiyuan. The train will depart at 7:00 Tuesday morning and the trip will take 4 to 5 hours.Each of the patients will be equipped with two medical staff.

WASHINGTON, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Commerce Department said on Thursday that it has set preliminary antidumping duties ( AD) on imports of certain seamless pipe from China, a move that might escalate trade disputes between the two countries.The department said it "preliminarily determined that Chinese producers/exporters have sold seamless pipe in the United States at 32.39 to 98.37 percent less than fair value."As a result of this preliminary determination, Commerce will instruct U.S. Customs and Border Protection to collect a cash deposit or bond based on these preliminary rates.The products covered by this investigation are suitable for the conveyance of water, steam, petrochemicals, oil products, natural gas, and other liquids and gasses in industrial piping systems.Imports of certain seamless pipe from China were valued at an estimated 182.3 million U.S. dollars in 2009, according to the U.S. Commerce Department.Commerce said that it is currently scheduled to make its final determination in September 2010.If Commerce makes an affirmative final determination, and the U. S. International Trade Commission makes an affirmative final determination that imports of certain seamless pipe salts from China materially injures, or threaten material injury to, the domestic industry, Commerce will issue an antidumping duty order.The new case followed the Commerce Department's initiation of antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CVD) duty investigation on Chinese aluminum extrusions on Wednesday.The protectionist moves by the Obama administration will ultimately hurt the U.S.-China trade relations, which are becoming more and more important due to the global financial crisis, economists warned.The onset of the global recession appears to have set off an increase in trade disputes around the world.Globally, new requests for protection from imports in the first half of 2009 are up 18.5 percent over the first half of 2008, according to the World Bank-sponsored Global Anti-dumping Database organized by Chad P. HONG KONG, April 16 (Xinhua) -- A volunteer from Hong Kong who lost his life on Wednesday when rescuing others in the earthquake- hit Qinghai province of China, has been recommended for a gold medal for bravery at home, local authority said on Friday.Wong Fu-wing, a 46-year-old volunteer, escaped from the earthquake on Wednesday morning but returned to rescue the trapped orphans and teachers in the orphanage where he worked in Yushu county of Qinghai province. He was critically injured by falling debris in a powerful aftershock.Tsang Tak-sing, Secretary for Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, said on Friday that Wong has been recommended for the Medal for Bravery of Hong Kong.The Medal for Bravery (Gold), created in 1997, is the first rank in the Order of the Medal for Bravery, awarded for acts of gallantry of the greatest possible heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger.Chief Secretary Hengry Tang Ying-yen said Thursday that Wong's selfless sacrifice deserved the highest respect and expressed condolences to his family.Wong's family members departed from Hong Kong to the disaster zone of Qinghai province on Thursday to collect his remains.
