SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for two men suspected in a downtown San Diego shooting spree that left five people injured Monday night.According to San Diego police, the gunfire was reported just after 11 p.m. at several locations in the East Village neighborhood, about three blocks east of Petco Park's tailgate parking lot.The shooting happened not long after the San Diego Padres wrapped up their game against the Washington Nationals at Petco Park.Police said four people were in the 500 block of 15th Street, near Island Avenue, when two men dressed in dark clothing approached the group and opened fire.Moments later, and several blocks from the initial shooting scene, a fifth person was shot in the 1800 block of Island Avenue.All five shooting victims suffered what were considered to be non-life threatening injuries, according to police.Police said the suspected shooters were described as black men between 19-25 years old and 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. The men were last seen fleeing westbound from the area.A witness in the area told 10News that he heard about a dozen gunshots coming from different locations and two vehicles speeding from the scene. Police did not confirm if they were searching for vehicles as part of the investigation.Police are looking into the possibility the shooting was gang-related.Mayor Kevin Faulconer released the a statement Tuesday afternoon on the shooting. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — North County residents have banded together to help a woman who was living in her van with hundreds of pet rats and nowhere to turn.Locals were first alerted to the woman's situation outside a Del Mar convenience store, where she works. Carla was recently living in her van with two pet rats after becoming homeless, neighbor Kimberly Jackson told 10News reporter Rachel Bianco. The two rats had babies and the situation grew out of hand. The rodents eventually totaled more than 300. The animals chewed through the wiring of the van, rendering it inoperable."Everywhere, there was not one place in the van where they had not gotten into, the wiring, the engine, they came and went from the engine area," San Diego Humane Society officer Danee Cook said. "She was extremely helpful during the entire process as well. She did love her pets, she just let it get out of hand and she became overwhelmed."Video of the rats scurrying across the van's dashboard surfaced on NextDoor, catching the attention of neighbors like Jackson. "She said, "are you here to ridicule me, like everybody else," Jackson told 10News. "I saw what was going on in there, and said, 'how can we help you?' There were like 300 rats in that van." That's when Jackson and other neighbors stepped in, helping Carla tow her van from the parking lot. The San Diego Humane Society then removed the rats, which are healthy and now up for adoption.The acts of kindness have gone even further to help Carla. Neighbors set up a GoFundMe account that has raised nearly ,000 for Carla. Another neighbor donated a car. They're also helping connect her to homelessness resources and housing."She's just a gentle, gentle person, nobody knew she was homeless," Jackson said. "She's contributing to society and she fell on hard times. Everybody can use a little help now and then." 1865

She says Narayan is one of the best the school has sent to the county bee."She was very calm and collected," says Posey. And she seemed to be very confident up there."Narayan says her love of spelling came from a childhood spent reading and writing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Newly-elected San Diego District 4 councilwoman Monica Montgomery is vowing to improve the relationship between her community and the police department. On Monday, she was unanimously appointed to the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee. More than a dozen community members spoke during a special meeting on Monday, backing Montgomery. The overwhelming support for her appointment quickly turned to frustration and anger towards the rest of the council and the police department about Aleah Jenkins, who died in SDPD custody early this month. Montgomery says she hears the community's frustration and is ready to get to work. "A lot of this stems just not from the support of me, but the desire to have real action in our community when it comes to our police and community relations," said Montgomery.She plans on taking a closer look at an SDSU racial profiling study within the department and look into possibly giving the Community Review Board subpoena powers to allow them to perform independent investigations and obtain sworn testimony during alleged police misconduct. "I'm confident we'll do the right thing. Everyone will need to do the right thing; we're at a crossroads and we need to do the right thing by our people and by our officers," added Montgomery. The police department insists there is no evidence of force used during Jenkins' arrest and is referring all questions to the district attorney. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are working to identify a body discovered at a shipyard along San Diego Bay.The body, only described as a white male, was found at Continental Maritime of San Diego shortly before 12 p.m. Saturday.
