SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Police say the body of the missing mayor of South Korea's capital, Seoul, has been found. They say Park Won-soon’s body was located in hills in northern Seoul early Friday, more than seven hours after they launched a massive search for him. Park’s daughter had called police on Thursday afternoon to report him missing, saying he had given her a “will-like” message before leaving home. Police say the daughter didn’t explain the contents of the message.News reports say one of Park’s secretaries had lodged a complaint with police on Wednesday night over alleged sexual harassment. An activist and human rights lawyer, Park became the city’s first mayor to be voted into a third term last June. He was also a potential presidential candidate in 2022 polls. 790
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A critical care physician in St. Louis simulated what it’s like to be a coronavirus patient in his ICU in attempt to urge people to wear face coverings.Dr. Kenneth Remy tweeted a video of the simulation last Saturday and it has since gone viral. It has garnered over 2,000 retweets as of Friday and been picked up by major news outlets.“I hope that the last moments of your life don't look like this,” Remy said in his video. “Because this is what you'll see at the end of your life, if we don't start wearing masks when we're out in public, when we don't practice social distancing.”Please listen as this is dire. I don’t want to be the last person that looks in your frightened eyes. #MaskUp ?@DrKenRemy1? ?@WUSTLmed? pic.twitter.com/qwb4eERlfE— Kenneth E. Remy, MD, MHSc, FCCM (@DrKenRemy1) November 21, 2020 In the clip, Remy told KSDK that he was simulating what it would be like for a patient’s oxygen levels to drop dangerously low and have a breathing tube be put in.“I beg you, please practice the precautions to reduce transmission of COVID disease, so that we can effectively prevent disease for you and your loved ones,” Remy continued in his video. In an interview with CNN, Remy said he hopes the nation can get to a place where everyone realizes that it’s more comfortable to wear a piece of cloth on your face than it is to be intubated in the hospital.“I don't want that, I don't want to see that anymore and have to make those phone calls to the frequency that we're currently doing," he told CNN.Along with being a doctor, Remy is also a city councilman in Wildwood, Missouri, so he’s familiar with how wearing a mask has been politicized. He told KSDK that while he understands the importance of personal liberties, he’s tired of patients becoming infected because people refuse to wear face coverings.Click here for CDC guidelines on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. 1928
SOUTH PADRE, Texas — A Minnesota woman accused of murdering her husband before killing a Bradenton woman in order to steal her identity was arrested on Thursday in Texas, according to the US Marshal's office.Lois Riess was facing second-degree murder charges in Rochester, Minnesota in the shooting death of her husband, David Riess, in March. She then allegedly fled to Southwest Florida, where she befriended 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson, of Bradenton, and targeted her due to their similar appearance. Investigators said Riess murdered Hutchinson in Fort Myers Beach, then took her ID and car and fled Southwest Florida. She was believed to have traveled through the Gulf coast states to Corpus Cristi, Texas. 766
Spring Valley, Calif. (KGTV) - The new Homeless Assistance Resource Team is expanding to battle the growing homeless population, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The program started in June. Their goal is to connect homeless people with services, like getting a driver's license, food stamps, or healthcare."It's not new to the sheriff's department, but having three full time deputies assigned to the mission is new." Deputy Matthew Faddis said they accompany the myriad of service agencies on their mission into obscure parts of town known to house homeless people.Faddis said it was to ensure the social workers, nurses and other workers' safety, and make them feel comfortable to do their job.Deputy Faddis said the department is working to help more people, "starting out doing this about once a week, we hope to expand that and eventually get the full time team doing this every single day."In Spring Valley, 10News walked with the team down into a concrete canal covered in graffiti. The couple they spoke with was given Hep A shots, hand sanitizer, water, and set up with a ride to get to an office where they can get set up for services tomorrow."If you don't have skills to communicate, if you don't have skills to be there on time, you get a stigma of, 'oh people don't care, there just going through my file anyway,' it doesn't matter." Kristin Kerrick said that's part of the reason why homeless people don't want to talk with the team. She said they are also scared. She's lived out of her car for the past year working to regain stability."There's a place in La Mesa that accepts Section 8 and I qualify, so it's really exciting, it's been so long, it's been a really long time so I'm really thankful," Kerrick said smiling ear to ear.Once under a roof for six months, she said she can try to get her four kids back, "we can see if they are already adopted out, or if they can break through the adoption, and go get the kids back, because I'm able to provide for them now and I'm under a program and she'll talk to me about that so not yet."Stories like hers, fueling the HART team forward. 2135
Special counsel Robert Mueller told a federal court Tuesday that former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn has given "substantial assistance" to the Russia investigation and should not get jail time.Flynn has sat for 19 interviews with the special counsel and other Justice Department offices, and his early cooperation gave prosecutors a road map for their Russia investigation and may have helped to encourage others to cooperate, the filing states. The new details explaining how Flynn has helped the special counsel investigation will ratchet up the pressure on President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly attacked the Mueller probe as a "witch hunt." 682
