ORANGE, Calif. - As Amtrak prepares for the busiest travel period of the year, the company is adding railcars and requiring reservations for passengers. Due to increased crowds for holiday travel, Amtrak is encouraging passengers to plan ahead and book early. Reservations will be mandatory between Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Monday, Dec. 2. Metrolink and COASTER passes will not be accepted onboard Pacific Surfliner trains during this time, however Amtrak monthly and 10-ride passes may still be used. Additionally, the Rail 2 Rail program will be suspended during these dates. The Pacific Surfliner route travels between San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. It offers a total of 26 trains a day between Los Angeles and San Diego. All Pacific Surfliner trains feature reclining seats, power outlets, Wi-Fi, bike and luggage racks, and a cafe that offers food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A man died Thursday in an Oceanside home after a fistfight with a relative, police said.Officers were called to the home in the 600 block of Arthur Ave. at 7:17 a.m. because of an argument between two men in the front yard. When police arrived, they found Nestor Jurado, 37, not breathing. Jurado was pronounced dead at the scene."It appears he died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the fight," Lt. Kedrick Sadler said. Police arrested 35-year-old Joel Cardona and booked him into the Vista Detention Facility on a murder charge.Sadler said the reason for the fight is unknown and no weapons were found at the scene. Jurado's sister told 10News Cardona is their mother's cousin. 763

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Firefighters battled a fire at a North County residence Saturday.The 3-alarm blaze was reported in the 1400 block of Division Street just after 2:30 p.m., according to an Oceanside Fire Battalion Chief. It took fire crews an hour to get the upper hand in the firefight, due to the wind and lack of resources, according to fire officials.Three people were injured. Two people were transported to UCSD hospital for burn injuries. One man was burned on the arm, according to his father, Alfredo Muruato. Muruato said his son and his daughter-in-law were asleep when the fire started and were awoken by the dog.Another resident, Carla Vega, described the harrowing ordeal. She said she was in the shower when she heard a loud boom, "I peeked out my head and smelled fire so I got out of the shower... I just saw a bunch of smoke everybody running." She said everyone was panicked. When she returned to remove her things, she said everyone was going to have to find another place to live. "Everything is replaceable, it is materialistic, my life is not materialistic, that’s what matters, I got myself out, my dog," Vega said.The Red Cross is assisting more than 30 people were displaced in the fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officers rescued a couple in Connecticut early Wednesday morning who were caught in a flood after a woman yelled to her iPhone “CALL 911” to summon police.According to the Guilford Police Department, the couple was crabbing when the husband fell into the water and was trapped in the entrance of the sluice pipe that runs under the roadway. The woman was holding onto her husband, fearing if she let go, he would get sucked in.Two officers from Guilford Police arrived, and said they retrieved a rope to assist the woman in saving her husband.“One of the key reasons officers were able to locate the victim so quickly was because his wife had SIRI activated on her iPhone," the Guilford Police Department said. “Her phone was a significant distance away from where she was trying to save her husband and she could not let go of him. She shouted to SIRI to "call 911" and the phone immediately dialed and made contact with 911 fire dispatchers.”The phone’s GPS technology gave officers the location, allowing for a swift rescue.Amazingly, no one was injured from Wednesday’s incident. 1091
