VISTA (CNS) - An Oceanside physician who sexually assaulted five female patients referred by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs was sentenced Thursday to three years probation and was ordered to register as a sex offender and surrender his medical license.Dr. Edgar Manzanera, 39, could face three years in state prison if he violates the terms of his probation.Manzanera, who was contracted by the VA to review pension disability claims, pleaded guilty last September to one count of sexual exploitation by a physician for acts committed in 2015 and 2016, and admitted a special allegation of committing acts against multiple victims.RELATED: Former doctor pleads guilty to sexual misconductFour counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object were dismissed as part of the plea."The victims placed the defendant in a position of inherent trust and confidence and the defendant betrayed that trust," Deputy District Attorney Claudia Plascencia said when Manzanera pleaded guilty. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Vista Thursday on suspicion of making terrorist threats against a north San Diego County campus, Oceanside Police said Friday. The Mission Vista High School student allegedly made the threat on Snapchat, posting “Don’t go to school tomorrow because the cleansing will commence,” according to investigators. Other students saw the post and reported it to school officials, who contacted police. The Vista Unified School District sent an automated message to parents to notify them about the threat. "In this situation the systems we have in place worked. A student saw something and said something. Please take this opportunity to speak with your child about school safety, and encourage them to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behavior or information they may have that jeopardizes their safety and that of others," said Lisa Contreras, VUSD Director of Communications.Contreras told 10News that the alleged threat did not target a specific campus or individual. Rick Davis said.After the crash, the Chevy driver backed up and headed east on Mission, where he struck Thanhminh in a crosswalk, dragging him about 150 feet down the street, the sergeant said.Thanhminh, who died at the scene, was with his wife at the time, though she was not struck, authorities said.The couple had just closed their restaurant for the day and were walking home when he was hit, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office, which stated that his wife had already crossed the street when she heard the crash, but did not see her husband when she turned to look into the street.Stuart allegedly continued on Mission before getting out of the pickup at Rancho Del Oro and fleeing on foot with a passenger, Davis said.Officers searched the area with the help of a police helicopter and apprehended the two outside Stuart's home, Oceanside police spokesman Tom Bussey said.Stuart was arrested.
