(KGTV) - An Uber driver says she was physically assaulted by a passenger Sunday night in La Mesa after a dispute over a mask."This is definitely the most insane experience driving with Uber that I've ever had," said Tia.Just past 6 p.m. Sunday, Tia, who first started driving for Uber last summer, arrived for a pickup outside the Echo Pointe apartments.Tia says a man and the passenger's sister ushered the passenger into the car with a warning for Tia: the passenger was drunk."She didn't have a mask on ... so I asked her if she could please put on a spare mask, which I had in the back seat. Took her awhile to put it on, but she did," said Tia.As the ride got started, Tia says her passenger wouldn't let it go."She said in a very snarky tone, 'Are you more comfortable now that I have a mask on?' She was very drunk, very belligerent, yelling," said Tia.Tia say she decided to end the ride."I was fed up with the disrespect," said Tia.Tia says she returned to the pickup spot and asked her to get out repeatedly, but the woman refused. Tia recorded some of it on her phone. Tia, who eventually called 911, says when she got out of the car and reached in to remove the woman's belongings, the passenger grabbed her neck from behind.According to Tia, the passenger became violent, chasing her around the car for several minutes, at one point hitting in the right eye. Tia says the passenger's sister and the man came out and subdued the woman, allowing Tia to drive away, and meet police and file a report."I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t believe I was assaulted for essentially wearing a mask ... People need to treat each other with respect. Wear a mask ... We're just trying to keep everybody safe," said Tia.Tia says she's still feeling pain in her eye but she's feeling better. She's hoping an arrest is made so a message is sent: this behavior is not acceptable.A La Mesa Police spokesperson says they are awaiting the report to be turned in by the officer before it is assigned to an investigator. 2030

(KGTV) - Famed stage and screen actor John Leguizamo returns to the La Jolla Playhouse, this time behind the scenes as the co-writer and creative mind behind the new show, "Kiss My Aztec."This is Leguizamo's third show at the LJP. His previous two, "Latin History for Morons" and "Ghetto Klown" both went on to Broadway.But those were one-man shows; "Kiss My Aztec" is a full-size musical production."San Diego's always been great for me," Leguizamo told 10News while promoting the show. "It's a really well-trained theater audience that knows how to watch a work in progress.""Kiss My Aztec" tells the story of a group of Aztec rebels as they fight against Spanish colonization in the 16th century. It's a pretty heavy subject that deals with the loss of their culture, but Leguizamo shows it as a musical comedy and a love story."I felt like the Aztec conquest was ripe with musicality," he said."We're investigating Latin identity," said director Tony Taccone. LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Virgin Hyperloop says it made history on Sunday by testing human travel in one of its hyperloop pods for the first time.The company says its two-person pod traveled 107 mph on its 500-meter DevLoop test site in Las Vegas, where more than 400 unoccupied tests have been run before.The first two people to ride in the new form of transportation were one of the company’s co-founders, Josh Giegel, and its director of passenger experience, Sara Luchian.The occupants made the maiden voyage on the newly unveiled XP-2 vehicle, which Virgin says was custom-built with safety and comfort in mind.Virgin says its vehicles glide using no-contact electromagnetic levitation through a vacuum environment that reduces air pressure down to the equivilanet of 200,000 ft. above sea level. That lowers aerodynamic drag allows for higher speeds to be achieved using minimal energy.According to the company’s website, the system can propel passenger cargo pods at speed of over 600 mph.The company says two-person pod was built to demonstrate passengers can safely travel in a hyperloop vehicle and that the final pods will be larger, seating up to 28 passengers.Sir Richard Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group, said in a press release that he hopes the hyperloop will change the way people live, work and travel in the years to come.“I can’t tell you how often I get asked ‘is hyperloop safe?,’” said Jay Walder, CEO of Virgin Hyperloop. “With today’s passenger testing, we have successfully answered this question, demonstrating that not only can Virgin Hyperloop safely put a person in a pod in a vacuum environment, but that the company has a thoughtful approach to safety which has been validated by an independent third party.”This isn’t the only stride Virgin has made with its goal of establishing hyperloop systems across the world. There's lots of palm trees, flowers and grass, all taken care of by the inmates. Here, they say, is opportunity to change your life."I was a month and a half pregnant when I got arrested, so I spent my whole pregnancy in jail, I gave birth in jail, she's with my parents, she's almost four years old," Kanya Arredondo said of her daughter Danya.She was locked up for a 5 year sentence for transporting illegal drugs."I missed everything, her first words, her first walking...I get 2-3 visits per week with her on the video screen," at Las Carolinas Kanya says they have a "Facetime machine".She said the atmosphere at the new facility allowed her to have a connection with her daughter, and the deputies who encouraged her to change.She's been taking classes, learned English and is on the Dean's List. She has a job ready when she gets out in 34 days."I don't ever want to come back to this place, even though, it's jail, and a lot of positive things came out of here, I still don't want to come back, at least as an inmate," she said she volunteered to start a Spanish book club to help other inmates follow her path to rehabilitation.Another inmate, Holly Combs, transitioned from the old facility to the new one as well."It's like a fight or flight situation... It's amazing how the trauma you just got used to it," Holly said referring to fights and drugs overtaking the cells.She said it all started when she lost her brother during a robbery. She felt responsible and turned to drugs, landing her behind bars. "My behavior started changing, i started taking every class, I take college courses here I'm on the dean's list and have a 4.0," she said.Her life changed when she came to Las Colinas' new facility."It just took someone to believe in me you know?" Holly said. She's out in about 50 days and has a job ready on the outside."There's a lot of programs here, if you want it you can have them... I could cry, I owe a lot to this place I really do.. I didn't think I could change and the whole way I think is different now."
