SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after their small engine plane crashed near Montgomery Field Airport on Thursday afternoon.The incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. near the executive airport at Kearny Villa Road and Balboa Avenue.According to the San Diego Police Department, a witness said the plane crashed behind a building near the airport and was helping the pilot.The plane had just taken off from the airport when it clipped trees and crash landed in an open space behind the Kyocera business building on Balboa Avenue, said Dan Eddy, Battalion Chief of the San Diego Fire Department Two male passengers were responsive when crews arrived but were transported with major injuries.Police said there was no active fire and no structures or vehicles were damaged.Eddy estimated at least 20 gallons of fuel spilled from the wrecked plane.The plane missed a high voltage area by about 30 feet, said Eddy.No further information was provided at this time. 1004

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Volunteers spent Wednesday afternoon putting some TLC into the Balboa Park Carousel.Built over 100 years ago, the carousel has broken down only three times. That's in part due to support from the community and the dedication of Carousel Manager Bill Brown. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A Pacific Beach man says his community is in need of a cleanup. He's raised hundreds of dollars to get it done.According to resident Adam Huntington, overgrown grass, untamed trees, and grimy sidewalks are just some of the mucky issues surrounding Pacific Beach.Huntington has been living in Pacific Beach for at least two decades."You've got beautiful architecture, beautiful masonry, that's just getting covered by grime and dirt."Huntington shared a video with 10News of a cruddy sidewalk on Garnet Avenue, one of Pacific Beach's main streets."We're in the middle of a pandemic right now," says Huntington. "We have an extremely unhealthy, unclean environment, and we force all of our restaurants to go outside and serve people."He hired a private company to power wash another area of Garnet Avenue over the weekend. The funds were raised by a GoFund Me Page. The cost of cleaning was ,200."We have people all over this community, wondering where our services are."We asked the city about why it's not using its services to clean up the area. A spokesperson said they don't have a statement at this time but encouraged anyone with a concern about cleanliness to report it on the city's "Get It Done" app.The city also tells 10News residents do not need a permit to clean or power wash a sidewalk on their own, but they must have a plan to prevent runoff from going into the storm drain. Huntington says he went with an eco-friendly company that followed those guidelines.The former lifeguard says to keep the beach area looking nice, he replaced the wooden barrier posts along the road that surrounds Crown Point."The reason people come to San Diego is to enjoy Mission Beach and Pacific Beach."With the help of two local hardware stores, Huntington says he was able to acquire power tools to continue to help spruce up the neighborhood.As for the overgrown brush, the city says its weed abatement program is back online since being paused due to COVID-19. 1988

I appreciate it!" Proctor exclaimed as she received a re-furbished 2017 Toyota Corolla.Before she arrived, the Corolla was loaded with items from a simple wish list: Diapers, baby clothes, a stroller, a car seat, and a teddy bear in a blue vest. All are the same color as the car. It's much needed transportation. "Drive back & forth to work and take my daughter to daycare and go to the grocery store and things I was doing on foot," she said. "They did. They did it in blue; it's my favorite color. So awesome." A small town girl from Indiana, where it's snowing now, Haley was grateful on many levels. The Armed Services YMCA, Caliber Collision, and Allstate Insurance weren't finished; presenting her with a check for 00 dollars."It's gonna make my life 2,000 times better!" she added. "So overwhelmed I can't even cry. Thank you so much. Such a blessing." One other blessing coming in about four months, "I think I'm gonna name her Gabriella. She's a blessing and this whole team's been a blessing to me.
