Wednesday will be cooler and windier, with the heaviest rain and threat of flooding between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to 10News meteorologist Megan Parry. Gavin Newsom's office on Monday, asking that comedy clubs in San Diego be allowed to reopen safely.The letter requests that performances be allowed to reopen in outdoor settings, with shows lasting no longer than an hour."We're not talking about concerts here where thousands of people are sitting next to each other," Cate said. "These are performances that are done while folks and individuals are having dinner in a restaurant setting, properly distanced, why should they be treated any differently?"Earlier this month, some comedy clubs, like The Comedy Palace in Kearney Mesa, moved their comedy shows outdoors, only to find out they were in violation of public health orders and made to stop.George Salek, co-owner of The Comedy Place, said they have a lot of outdoor space, and people were able to observe social distancing."Eighty people is what we're trying to put in 5,000 square feet," he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer has identified a park-and-ride lot in Scripps Ranch as a perfect place for new affordable housing, but neighboring businesses worry the plan will drive away their customers."You solve one problem and create ten new ones. There’s seven businesses that are going to suffer," said Yannis Pihas, owner of Yanni's Bar & Grill.Pihas says his customers, as well as visitors to the two hotels in the center, frequently use the park-and-ride because there is limited parking otherwise. While he's attempted to speak with city leaders about his concerns, so far he says he has not been given any indication that the housing project will include parking that the businesses can use.ABC 10News reached out to the city. A spokesperson says the project is still in the early process of planning and that details on potential parking have yet to be worked out. The spokesperson also said the public can always bring concerns to the area's planning board and that there will be more opportunities for public input once the plan is prepared.In a statement, Mayor Faulconer said, "There is a great need in our community for housing that gives folks a real chance to have a place of their own, but also the support system they need to stay housed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a man died in custody after reportedly breaking down a fence and walking into someone’s home Tuesday afternoon. Police were called to the 2900 block of Hornet Way around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call from someone saying a man, later identified as Buddie Thomas Nichols, 40, had entered his home through a rear door. According to police, the man broke down a fence and walked into the home through an open back door. Two of the residents were upstairs while their 9-year-old daughter was asleep downstairs, according to police. Police say one of the residents came downstairs when he heard commotion and confronted Nichols, punching him twice in the face and rendering him unconscious. Police say the suspect woke up and ran out of the house displaying bizarre behavior after the resident kicked him. Witnesses told police they believed the man was on drugs. When police arrived and tried to take the Nichols into custody, officers say he resisted, forcing them to use physical force to get him into handcuffs. After paramedics arrived, police say Nichols became unresponsive and later died after being taken to the hospital. 1215

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are reminding families who may care for an at-risk loved one to have a plan if they become lost.Officers said Saturday that a woman named "Lupe" disappeared from her home recently and was lost before a neighbor who noticed her called police.SDPD Southern Division officer McClain responded to the call and stayed with Lupe as other officers searched the area to try and get her back home, according to police. An officer eventually found a residence with an open door, which was Lupe's home.Instead of transporting her back home in a police vehicle, and possibly confusing or scaring the woman, SDPD said McClain, "figured it was time to get his steps in and walked Lupe back to her residence." There, she was reunited with her family.SDPD said the incident highlighted the need for families to make sure loved ones with medical or mental issues have an ID bracelet with their basic information, address, and emergency contact if they become lost.The Alzheimer's Association says families can prevent a loved one from wandering away from home by identifying times they are likely to wander and plan activities, ensure basic meets are met, use devices to signal when a door or window opens, and regularly supervise them. The group says families can plan for the possibility of someone wandering away from home by asking neighbors to call if they see the person alone, know where a person could likely go to if they leave the home alone, and familiarize themselves with the neighborhood and any possible hazards there may be. 1568
