Jarod Dittman was killed near the 8.5 mile marker on Otay Lakes Road in Jamul in March 2008. He was driving to his assigned patrol route when he rolled over. About an hour later, she and a friend tried to go back with a trailer for her horses, 11 of them in several outside paddocks. A few miles from her home, she was turned away by deputies.
