BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee met Tuesday in a meeting on anti-corruption, demanding greater efforts in addressing problems the masses complained about most and fighting corruption among grassroots officials.The meeting was presided over by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President Hu Jintao. The meeting called on all party members to work for new achievements in fighting corruption in a bid to greet the coming CPC's anniversary.

BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ministry of Public Security said Monday that the nation's police authorities had shut down 500 underground banks since 2002 in its battle against money laundering.Ten crack-down campaigns have be waged since 2002 when the ministry set up a division dedicated to anti-money laundering, in which over 100 cases involving more than 200 billion yuan (30 billion U.S. dollars) have been handled, the ministry said in a statement.The ministry has trained more than 400 police officers specialized in handling money laundering cases over the past eight years, said the statement.In order to promote international cooperation, China joined the Moscow-based Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism as a founding member state inn October 2004.In June, 2007, China joined another international anti-money laundering organization, the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force on Anti-Money Laundering.

BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government on Tuesday published guidelines on improving the country's funding system of grassroots medical institutions, according to a statement posted on the central government's official website www.gov.cn.The statement, posted by the General Office of the State Council, or Cabinet, said the government will introduce new measures to provide funding and subsidies to grassroots medical organizations and ensure the salary of medical staff did not decrease following a cut in the price of medicine.To ensure low income-earners can afford essential medicines, over half of China's medical clinics based in rural townships and small urban communities have been offering essential medicines at reduced prices since August 2009.Some medical institutions were short of revenue because of the reduced drug prices, which had affected their operations.According to the statement, expenditures of government-run grassroots clinics will be covered by government subsidies and medical service charges.To boost staff income, local medical institutions are allowed to raise service charges, which will be paid by the social insurance system instead of the patients, said the statement.The guidelines also asked local governments to offer subsidies to country doctors and other non-government grassroots medical institutions.

It is the biggest developing country on earth. After over 30 years of reform and opening-up, China has achieved remarkable success in economic and social development. China's GDP has grown by an annual average of 9.9%, and the Chinese economy is one of the largest in the world. China has steadily expanded the opening-up program. It is now the second largest trading nation in the world. China has remained the top recipient of foreign investment among developing countries for years and its outbound investment ranks the fifth in the world. Having made the historic leap from mere subsistence to overall moderate prosperity, the Chinese people are enjoying much higher living standards. Per capita income has risen eight times and more than 200 million people have been lifted out of poverty. A minimum living allowance system covering both urban and rural areas is by and large in place. And the Chinese people are leading an increasingly fulfilling cultural life.Proud as we are of these accomplishments, the Chinese people are keenly aware of the problems we face in development. China has to deal with the most complex national conditions in the world. Any big achievement in development, when divided among the 1.3 billion people, will become small. We need to engage in exchanges and cooperation with other countries and draw on the fine achievements of human civilizations. Our world is one where no country can develop with its door closed. These measures are important in promoting development. Third, China is a solid champion of green economy. Many of the concepts and technologies that originated in developed countries, like circular economy, clean energy, low-carbon technology and sustainable development, have been more and more accepted by the Chinese business community and the general public, and have been applied in many aspects of their work and life. To turn the blueprint into reality, China will continue to deepen reform, stick to the market direction of reforms, and establish institutional arrangements that will facilitate economic transition. China's door is open to the world. China's development will bring enormous opportunities of cooperation to Spain and other countries in Europe and beyond.Situated on opposite ends of the Eurasian continent, China and Spain are geographically apart. And if only a few in every hundred Chinese would travel to Spain every year, no hotel room in Spain will be left vacant. And for Spain’s transport, telecommunications, banking and insurance sectors, some of their biggest future customers would be Chinese. China supports Spain in the series of economic and financial adjustment measures Spain has adopted, and is convinced of the certainty of full recovery of the Spanish economy. China is willing to explore, together with Spain, the positive and effective forms of cooperation. China is a responsible long-term investor, both in the European financial market and in the Spanish financial market. China has confidence in Spain's financial market. It has purchased Spanish Treasury bonds and will buy still more.China and Spain have all along been good friends and good partners.
