KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Jeff Henry, one of the men charged in the death of 10-year-old Caleb Schwab at Schlitterbahn water park, did not appear with his attorney in court Thursday, Dec. 13.His attorney stated Henry is at an inpatient facility in Houston, Texas. He asked the judge to stay his bench warrant until Jan. 24, 2019 when Henry returns for his other case.The attorney said Henry, a co-owner of Schlitterbahn, will begin an intensive outpatient program while in Houston. Henry is accused of allegedly arranging for a human trafficker to bring a woman to him at a hotel room in July 2018, a day after he was in court for the Schlitterbahn case.Part of the payment to the trafficker included passes to the water park, documents say.The state told the judge they were fine with the suggestion from Henry's attorney to stay his bench warrant since they have been in touch with authorities there and they say they have had no issues with Henry.Henry has a ,000 cash and surety bond and is under house arrest.Schwab died Aug. 6, 2016 from a neck injury sustained while he was on the 17-story Verrückt water slide with two other park goers. JEFFERSON COUNTY, Miss. – Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of an off-duty officer state trooper.Mississippi Highway Patrol says 58-year-old Troy Morris was found fatally shot in a vehicle on US 61 in Jefferson County early Friday morning. There were reportedly no signs of theft from the vehicle.Morris was a 27-year veteran and a lieutenant with MHP.Along with being trooper, Morris also worked as a highway contract driver with Blackwell Hauling Inc, which has a contract with the U.S. Postal Service to transport mail between USPS facilities. Officials say he was found in the commercial truck that he used to transport mail.“This is a sad day for law enforcement, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the State of Mississippi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Lieutenant Troy Morris. Local, state, and federal agents will work tirelessly to ensure justice,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell.Saturday, MHP announced that Treyon Washington, 24, was taken into custody in Jefferson County and has been charged with Morris’ murder. He’s being held in the Jefferson County Detention Facility with no bond.Meanwhile, Cdarrius Norman, 17, and Damion Whittley, 25, were arrested in New Orleans. KENOSHA, Wisc. — If police spotted the teen reportedly carrying a rifle in Kenosha Tuesday night, they could have stopped him to find out if he was committing a crime before he allegedly killed two protesters and injured a third.Images of people openly carrying guns during protests in Milwaukee and Kenosha this summer may make some people feel uneasy. But they are not breaking the law.Wisconsin is an open carry state, meaning anyone who gets a gun legally can carry it in most public places without a license or permit.But that's not the case for minors like 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who is accused of shooting three protesters in Kenosha Tuesday night, killing two of them.Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis confirmed to reporters Wednesday that you have to be 18 to open carry in the state of Wisconsin.And according to a 2009 memo from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, police can stop someone openly carrying a gun to determine if a crime is being committed.The DOJ says officers can stop someone if they have "reasonable suspicion" of criminal activity, adding Wisconsin's open carry law, "...is not a shield against police investigation or subsequent prosecution."In this case, police could have asked Rittenhouse how old he was and stopped him before he allegedly pulled the trigger.There are some exceptions in Wisconsin state law allowing minors to carry guns, including if they are in the military and in the line of duty, as well as if they are under adult supervision and using it for target practice or instruction. Just because you're bankrupt doesn't mean you don't need a hand during the holiday season.Toys R Us, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday night, announced Thursday that it is looking to fill at least 13,000 positions nationwide for the upcoming holiday season.The toy retailer didn't give the total number of seasonal workers it plans to hire, but said it is looking for 3,800 workers in the New York area, 2,400 in greater Los Angeles as well as 2,400 at a warehouse in Groveport, Ohio that is run by DHL. It is also looking for about 1,000 workers each in the Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston markets as well as 900 work at home call center employees.Hiring workers just for the holidays will be harder for retailers this year since unemployment at at 4.4%, near a 16-year low. There are currently a record number of unfilled job openings according to Labor Department statistics. To fill the jobs in the current environment, Toys R Us has sweetened its pay package to offer employees weekend pay rates on peak holiday shopping days, as well as additional employee discounts said spokesman Joseph Contrino.Earlier this week Walmart, the nation's largest private sector employer, said that instead of hiring seasonal employees this year it will give?its existing part-time employees more hours.Toys R Us has nearly 1,000 Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores across the United States and Canada, and filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday.
