WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's growth is projected to average 10.5 percent in 2010 and 9.6 percent in 2011, driven by domestic demand, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in a report Wednesday.The Washington-based international lending agency made the projection for the annual fall meetings this weekend of the 187-nation IMF and its sister lending organization, the World Bank."The slight moderation in recent activity is expected to continue through 2011 in light of tighter quantitative limits on credit growth, measures to cool off the property market and limit bank exposure to this, and the planned unwinding of fiscal stimulus in 2011," the IMF said in its report.The report said this year's sustained growth in retail sales and industrial production confirms that private sector activity has advanced beyond the lift from government stimulus."On average over 2010-11, private domestic demand is poised to contribute two-thirds of near term growth, and government activity about one third, whereas the contribution from net exports will be close to zero," the report said.Despite the robustness in domestic demand, the pickup in inflation in 2010 reflected mainly higher food prices rather than core inflation, the report said.The report said China's increasingly wide trading network is driving growth in numerous economies, especially commodity exporters.The report said Asia's medium-term growth depends on the rebalancing of drivers of growth -- greater reliance should be put on domestic markets instead of foreign demand.The report said such a rebalancing in China, the world's second largest economy, is critical to enhance the role of household consumption in domestic growth.The report also recommended that China implement reforms to health care, education, and pension systems to enhance the social safety net.

KIEV, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's coal industry ministry and China's state development bank reached an agreement on cooperation in the coal industry Thursday."We have signed a document which provides an algorithm for further implementation of investment projects," Yuriy Yaschenko, the Ukrainian coal industry minister, told reporters after a meeting with Gao Jian, deputy head of the State Development Bank of China.The memorandum applies to three investment projects to be launched in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions in eastern Ukraine, Yaschenko said."Chinese experts have already arrived in Ukraine, they are now visiting the shafts. They will inspect the technical condition and consider how to implement these projects," Yaschenko said.Gao said China's State Development Bank is willing to expand cooperation with Ukraine not only in the coal industry but also in agriculture, infrastructure construction and other fields.Ukraine's coal industry and China's State Development Bank signed a framework agreement on financial cooperation on Sept. 2 during Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to China.Under the agreement, Ukraine's coal ministry presented to the Chinese side a package of seven investment projects with an estimated cost of more than one billion U.S. dollars.

BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's central government will, for the first time, reserve vacancies for farmers and workers in this year's nationwide civil service exams.The announcement was made on Wednesday by the State Administration of Civil Service (SACS), which is in charge of recruiting central government employees.Millions of farmers living in the country's rural areas were not allowed to take the exam selecting central government officials until 2006, when the restriction of household registration, or hukou, was lifted.According to the administration, those reserved vacancies will be allocated among departments of the customs, state taxation and railway police at country-level or below.The SACS posted a notice for the exams on its website, but did not specify the number of reserved vacancies.The central government plans to recruit more than 16,000 public servants in 2011, 1,000 more than in 2010. About 85 percent of the vacancies require at least two-years grassroots work experience, up 15 percentage points from the previous year.The SACS also revealed that 100 positions were specially created for college graduates who had served in villages to encourage more college students to work in rural regions after graduation.Registration for this year's exams will start on Friday.

In the series of meetings, China will review with other countries the cooperation that has been carried out and discuss how to further promote the integration process of East Asian cooperation," said Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue.Hu made the remarks at a press conference Thursday afternoon in which officials from the ministries of Commerce, Education and Finance briefed the press on Premier Wen Jiabao's scheduled attendance at the meetings.The meetings, lasting from Oct. 28 to 30, will include: the 13th summit between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) (10+1); the 13th summit between ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) (10+3); and the fifth East Asia Summit.Wen will also attend a meeting with the leaders of Japan and the ROK.Hu said China hopes the meetings would promote good-neighborliness and boost cooperation between China and the other Asian countries."During his visit, Premier Wen, together with participating leaders of other countries, will review the achievements of China-ASEAN cooperation, 10+3 cooperation, and East Asian cooperation, as well as cooperation concerning East Asia Summit.
