SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Normal Heights dog owner is warning about a hidden danger at dog parks.Bosco, a 2-year-old bullypit, loves his treats and just about anything else his mouth can reach."He's a vacuum. He's eaten some weird stuff," said Mark Groveman.On Friday morning, the list of stuff got longer sometime during a 40-minute period. During that time, Groveman walked Bosco to the off-leash area at Ward Canyon Park and let him play. Eventually they walked home. Groveman put him in the house, left for work and returned home five hours later."He was laying on the bed, scared and shivering. He had wet the bed a couple times. He was arching his back in a weird way, swaying side to side. I thought he was having a stroke," said Groveman.Groveman decided to rush Bosco to the emergency vet."In the car, he was bobbing his head forward. He kept nodding off. Honestly I thought he was going to die. A lot of panic and some praying as well," said Groveman. At the vet, Bosco got a quick diagnosis."They said they are seeing it every day," said Groveman. Bosco likely ingested marijuana, which tests later confirmed. Experts say in some cases, eating marijuana for dogs can lead to seizures and in rare cases, death. Edibles and tinctures - with higher THC concentrations - are most concerning. According to the ASPCA, since the legalization of marijuana in California, dog toxicity cases have jumped 130%.In the case of Bosco, a slow heartbeat was initially a concern, but he was fortunately was back to his normal self 24 hours later."He has to run around and play, but I'm going to be a bit more aware," said Groveman. 1629

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Point Loma woman says while her family was sleeping, someone was in her home stealing from them.Tucked away on a hill along scenic La Crescentia Drivel, the serenity was interrupted when Teresa Cesear and her husband got up around 5 a.m. Wednesday."Panic, absolutely panic," said Cesear.Cesear says her purse and laptop bag — computer inside — were not where she had placed them on her kitchen stool.Reality quickly set in. Those items didn't disappear on their own. "My entire personal and work life were in those two bags. Then came the fear and sense of violation," said Cesear.The violation happened quietly as she, her husband, and her grown son slept."The police said that they must have looked in the window. There's a nightlight in the kitchen, so they see my laptop and purse and somehow got this locked kitchen door open," said Cesear.Among the missing items were credit cards, keys and one special key: The original key to her 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia."Really sad ... It's an important part of it because it's a very unique key," said Cesear.The break-in is the second burglary in her cul-de-sac in the past few months. Some restaurants have had to close altogether, not able to afford to keep their doors open. For those businesses trying to stay open, the community is lending its support through #takeoutchallenge.Sports Director Ben Higgins called it the easiest challenge in history. “All you have to do is go order take out from one of your local restaurants,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A new lot meant to give people living in their cars and RVs a safe place to sleep and avoid citation is going largely unused.During Tuesday morning's wee hours, the lot across from SDCCU Stadium looked completely empty. San Diego opened the lot in mid-June, as the third safe parking lot for those who live in their vehicles. The newest one came a month after the council enacted an emergency ordinance that banned people from living in cars and recreational vehicles on public streets from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The city enacted the restriction after being inundated with safety concerns from residents who said people were camping in their beach front neighborhoods, leaving human waste, and trash. At Mission Bay on Tuesday, many who do live in their vehicles said they would prefer to stay near the coast, despite the threat of citation. "They don't know about it, and maybe it's not that convenient either," said Gary Parsons, who lives inside his Dodge Ram. "Inside I put in some carpet, and some shelving, and I sleep on the floor."Chris Enders, who lives in an RV with his wife and son, said they spend their nights on unchecked private property, such as parking lots near the beach. He said the Mission Valley location is not feasible."When you're getting five miles a gallon in gas, that's .75 just to get there, and then to get back that's another .75 so you just cost me ... for one day," said Enders.The lot requires all vehicles to be out by 7 a.m. daily. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Rolando resident is taking Halloween decor to new heights this month, with a NASA-themed display outside his home.Greg Jones is known in the neighborhood for his elaborate Halloween displays. Every year, locals expect an out-of-this-world display. This year, he took that reputation literally.Saturday night, dozens of neighbors and volunteers witnessed the inaugural rocket launch outside the home at 4648 Rolando Blvd., which took months to complete.The celebratory launch came complete with Jones in costume as an astronaut, a moon rover, space capsules, and a 30-foot rocket.The massive space display will be up through Halloween, with a "rocket launch" visible each night.In years past, Jones has delivered a heaping dose of Halloween to his street, bringing mammoth displays including a giant Octopus and King Kong to life over his home. 872
