NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A spokesman with Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) says unless changes are made to the city’s pandemic plan, there’s very little officers can do to enforce mandates at a private residence. The party, which caught the attention of Chad Boseman and his friend Andy, happened across the street from their house on Fern Ave. in East Nashville Saturday evening.“There was just tons of everything. Whatever you can think of a party, just times 20,” Andy said. They weren’t sure what they were seeing at first when people began lining up at the door. All they knew was they wanted to see for themselves. They walked over to find a party with what they say was easily more than 200 people.“I’m still recovering from this night,” Andy said.Promoted as the big unveiling for The Fashion House intended for photoshoots, people showed up to snap pics and even get tattoos.Boseman and company say they were there from 11 P.M. to 3 A.M. before MNPD officers arrived. Boseman says once people noticed cars were being towed, people began to leave. When approached by reporters, one of the homeowners declined to comment.Later in the day, one person claiming to be a homeowner posted a Facebook message saying he contacted police beforehand, and there were no violations. The homeowner ended the statement with “nothing illegal was done or the police would have stopped it.”MNPD said officers wrote citations for those parked illegally in neighboring driveways, but they did not write any citations related to the coronavirus mask mandate.Metro Nashville Public Health says it is investigating but won’t say what rules may have been broken. Not that any of the neighbors we talked to were too concerned. For them, it was something they couldn’t miss and likely won’t forget any time soon.“I mean there’s the usual risk that you take when you’re around a group of people, just like getting trampled or something. But I didn’t see any concerns really. I was just there to have a good time,” Andy said. This story was originally published by Levi Ismail on WTVF in Nashville. 2084

Montgomery County, Maryland Police reported Laura Wallen, a pregnant high school teacher who went missing last week, has been found dead. According to Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, Wallen's body was found in a wooded area in Damascus, Maryland. Police have arrested her boyfriend, Tyler Tessier.Tessier was present with Wallen's family during a press conference on Monday. Police had already identified him as a person of interest in the case. Detectives asked the family to invite him to speak as part of the investigation. During the press conference, Tessier pleaded for Wallen to come home."There's so many people, so people that miss you," he said Monday. "There's so many people that were out looking. We haven't slept, we haven't eaten. We're just looking and praying that you're safe and I'm asking that you can just let us know that you're safe."Police have not determined a motive in the case, though during Wednesday's update, police said Tessier was living at several addresses, including one in Damascus.  1079

More than 200 interviews have been conducted in the investigation into the disappearance of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, according to the special agent in charge.Tibbetts, 20, disappeared nearly two weeks ago in Brooklyn, a small community an hour east of Des Moines, according to the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office. The hundreds of interviews are related to tips investigators have received, said Richard Rahn, the special agent in charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for the Major Crime Unit. The sheriff's office is scheduled Tuesday to give an update on the investigation."People are concerned and wanting to help," Rahn said. "We welcome the phone calls and are doing everything."Investigators are continuing to evaluate data, going over the leads list, and having agents in the field to locate Tibbetts. Data includes social media and information from a Fitbit that Tibbetts is known to have."We live in a digital world," Rahn told CNN sister network HLN. "We'll look at cell phones, computers, social media sites, and everyone knows there's a Fitbit involved as well. We look at that, try to establish a timeline as best we can. We feel we have done that thus far."Investigators executed search warrants for Tibbetts' Fitbit, which she was known to wear, and her Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook accounts, Mitch Mortvedt, spokesman for the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, said last week. 1453

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Every week, hundreds of people from around the world visit The Free Pizza Dude account on Imgur, created by a Nashville man, to either ask for food assistance or help out."I've been able to carve out this kind of wholesome side of Imgur where people come to my post to help other people," said Mr. Puckett, the virtual Imgur user with more than 7 million up-votes. "We had all of these people kind of wanting to help, but had no idea how to."In August 2019, Mr. Puckett created The Free Pizza Dude page to help connect the people in need of a meal to willing donors."We're not trying to end world hunger we're trying to make people happy. [Those] who would not otherwise be able to afford this kind of food," said Mr. Puckett. So far, the page has allowed people to send nearly 4,000 pizzas to strangers in need.Mr. Puckett knows what it is like to be hungry."I had problems with alcohol and was homeless for four years before I got on Imgur. I knew if I ever got on my feet again, I wanted to do something where we could send food to people that wasn't rice and beans - that wasn't food shelf kind of food - something they could really enjoy and remember for some time because I always did and I always remembered the food people sent me," he said.Through his website, pizza angels from all over the world have sent paid-for pizzas to strangers and fulfilled more than 100 detailed grocery requests too."Everybody wants to help, but they want to have fun doing it, and they want to have security that they're helping the right person, and I think we've done all three of those things," he said.Mr. Puckett puts out a new call for pizza donations every Friday. He said the reason he does this is simple."I was homeless for so long and so many people from my childhood days helped me. I needed help from every person in my life for so many years so once I finally got stable, and got an apartment and home I knew I had to be that person," he said.Nashville Mayor John Cooper recently named Mr. Puckett a Community Hero of the Week. This story was first reported by Hannah McDonald at WTVF in Nashville, Tennessee. 2136

More than 20 fire departments are working to burn down a Beaver Dam, Wisconsin apartment building where a deadly explosion happened last week. City officials said dangerous chemicals inside of the structure made it too dangerous for residents to re-enter, and that burning the building to the ground is the safest way to prevent any injuries."We have carefully reviewed this, and we firmly believe this is the action that needs to be taken, unfortunately," said Beaver Dam Fire Chief Alan Mannel at a Wednesday evening news conference. The five, neighboring buildings in the apartment complex were evacuated ahead of Thursday's controlled burn. Streets in the area were shut down at 9 a.m.Around 10 o'clock, firefighters lit both ends of the apartment building at 109 Knaup Dr. on fire and allowed it to burn towards the middle. Large shipping containers were placed around building 109 to help contain the heat and flames. Mannel said staffing of the fire trucks surrounding the building is minimal, and that firefighters only plan to step in and control the flames if they threatened any of the nearby structures. Police on Wednesday identified 28-year old Benjamin Morrow as the man killed in last Monday's blast. According to authorities, Morrow lived in one of the units.Beaver Dam Police Chief John Kreuziger said investigators continue to suspect that Morrow was building a bomb inside of the apartment. According to his obituary, Morrow worked in the quality department at Richelieu Foods in Beaver Dam for almost a year. His obituary describes him as "a hard worker" who "had a good rapport with all those around him."Police and the FBI continue to investigate why Morrow was in possession of the volatile chemicals that required them to eventually burn the building down.Kreuziger on Wednesday declined to comment on what the chemicals inside of the apartment were. City officials said the plan is for evacuated residents to be allowed back into their homes this evening. That's also when they plan to re-open nearby streets. The EPA has placed air monitoring devices in the area. Mannel said the EPA can also test the air in individual apartments within the evacuation zone at the request of residents. 2336
