MEXICO CITY (KGTV) — Authorities Friday say at least two people have been killed at an elementary school in northern Mexico after a student opened fire on his teacher and classmates.Coahuila state Gov. Miguel Angel Riquelme said an 11-year-old sixth-grade student at Colegio Cervantes in Torreon, Coahuila, is the suspected gunman, the Associated Press reported. The student reportedly asked his teacher to use the bathroom and later returned to class with two firearms. Riquelme said the student killed his teacher and himself, and wounded five other students and a gym teacher at the private school. The AP reported that the unnamed student told a classmate, "today is the day" before leaving the class.The student is not believed to have shown any behavioral problems in the past, but investigators were looking into his online activity, according to Riquelme. MATTHEWS, N.C. (AP) — A mixup with the first absentee ballots sent in North Carolina caused some voters to receive two identical ballots for the November general election, according to election officials.Some ballots intended for voters in Matthews were mislabeled with the wrong names and were shredded before they could be sent this week, Mecklenburg County election officials told news outlets.When officials printed new mailing labels to correct the mistake, some voters ended up getting two duplicate ballots.Fewer than 500 voters were affected, Election Director Michael Dickerson said.The official added that it was unlikely that voters could have cast two ballots, a felony, because each mailing label includes an individual code making it impossible to vote twice.About 813,000 absentee ballots have been requested in North Carolina as of Monday as millions of Americans prepare to vote by mail to avoid polling places during the coronavirus pandemic.President Donald Trump, who has made unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud through mail-in voting, tweeted about the incident in North Carolina Thursday. 1121

Lou Holtz has tested positive for the coronavirus.The 83-year-old former college football coach confirmed the test Thursday to Columbia, South Carolina, TV station WOLO.“I don’t have a lot of energy right now,” Holtz told the ABC station.Holtz led Notre Dame to the 1988 national title in a Hall of Fame career. He retired from coaching in 2004, after being with various teams, including William & Mary, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Minnesota, Notre Dame, South Carolina and in the NFL with the New York Jets. MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wy. (KGTV) — A man police say was captured on video taunting a bison at Yellowstone National Park this week has been arrested.Glacier National Park rangers arrested 55-year-old Raymond Reinke, of Pendleton, Ore., Thursday just after 10:30 p.m.In the video, a man is seen Tuesday in the middle of traffic approaching the bison. He begins the taunt the animal, which becomes visibly agitated and charges the man multiple times.After the footage was shared out, Yellowstone Superintendent Dan Wenk called the man's behavior, "reckless, dangerous, and illegal," on Facebook, adding those who ignore rules for distancing themselves from wildlife risk their lives and threaten the park.Yellowstone requires visitors to keep at least 25 yards from animals like bison and elk, and 100 yards from bears and wolves.Tuesday's incident wasn't Reinke's first recent run-in with law enforcement either, according to police. He had reportedly been visiting multiple national parks over the last week.On July 28, he was arrested by law enforcement at Grand Teton National Park for drunk and disorderly conduct.He then traveled to Yellowstone, where his vehicle was stopped by rangers on July 31. He was cited as a passenger for failure to wear a seat belt, after rangers said he appeared drunk and argumentative, the park said.It's after this incident the park said they believed Reinke encountered the bison.Rangers investigating the video believed Reinke to be behind the incident and had his bond revoked and an arrest warrant issued.Rangers began searching for his vehicle, and he was located at Glacier National Park. Rangers there had received a call of two hotel guests creating a disturbance and identified one of the guests as Reinke.He was booked into Yellowstone Jail to await a scheduled court appearance Friday. 1842

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Senator John McCain and co-host on “The View”, gave birth Monday to a baby girl, naming her Liberty Sage McCain Domenech.McCain and little Liberty are said to be healthy and doing well.McCain announced her pregnancy in March, shortly after many states announced safety precautions because of the coronavirus pandemic.
