Artificial intelligence is being used by companies around the world, allowing many stories to go cashierless.Mike Fogarty, founder of Choice Market, says great food, service and quick check-outs are essential.“Currently, we have the ability for folks to order online on an app and use one of our self-checkouts back here,” Fogarty says. “We also have a traditional point of sale over here.”In six months, Choice Market plans to introduce a cashierless system using artificial intelligence technology.“Using cameras, sensors and other things within the store to monitor what’s being taken off the shelf, what a customer is walking out with, and ultimately, charging it to their credit card or the app,” Fogarty explains. However, Choice Market isn’t the only store doing this. Amazon Go stores are popping up across the country.“Many other retailers, including ourselves, are looking at this as a way to really enhance the customer experience,” Fogarty says. “And [in] my opinion, you will see this in almost every retailer in the very near future.”As far as jobs go, Fogarty says he doesn’t plan on letting any employees go once the new stores open. 1161

BERLIN, Germany – The U.S. Air Force is investigating the death of two servicemen who died at a base in Germany last week.Airman 1st Class Xavier Leaphart and Airman 1st Class Aziess Whitehurst were found unresponsive in a dormitory room at Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The men, both aged 20, were pronounced dead shortly afterward. Both deceased Airmen were assigned to the 52nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, under the 52nd Fighter Wing.Leaphart is survived by his father, Malik Muhammad, and mother, Pamela Leaphart. Whitehurst is survived by his father and mother, Davin and Maria Whitehurst. The Associated Press reports that Leaphart was from Georgia and Whitehurst was from Arizona.In a statement Sunday, base commander Col. David Epperson expressed his condolences to the men’s loved ones.“It is always very difficult to lose valued members of our team,” said Col. Epperson. “Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and families that have been affected by this tragedy.”An Air Force spokeswoman said more information will be released as it becomes available. 1141

Authorities say at least four people have died after severe storms swept across parts of the U.S. South. Three people were killed in Louisiana, including an elderly couple found near their trailer home Saturday by firefighters.In Texas, one person died when a car flipped into a creek. Apple is teasing the future of its software, and it is dark.At its annual World Wide Developers Conference in San Jose, California, Monday, Apple is announcing new features and designs for the operating systems that run on iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches and Apple TVs.iTunes is being replaced after 18 yearsAs expected, Apple is killing its once groundbreaking, often bemoaned audio and video app, iTunes.After 18 years, the app will be phased out and replaced with three separate apps that are familiar to iOS users: Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Podcasts.Apple's Craig Federighi had a sense of humor about user dissatisfaction with iTunes, joking, "Customers love iTunes and everything it can do."iOS 13: iPhones are going dark, Maps are going street level"And now, lets begin our descent into darkness," said Federighi, introducing the new updates to iOS.IPhones, iPads and the iPod touch will now have an optional dark mode coming in iOS 13. It has the option to hide your real email address and instead give each app a randomly generated email address. Google, Twitter and Facebook have their own sign-on tools already, but some security experts advise against using a single sign-in service across multiple sites, in case your one login is compromised. Sign In With Apple will work across Apple devices, including Macs and iPhones, but only with apps that update to support the feature.Other privacy updates include a new option to limit how much tracking information third-party apps can collect. Now you can choose to allow an app to get location information just once, as well as receive reports on background tracking. Apple is also blocking the ability for outside apps to sneakily gather location information via your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.A more independent Apple Watch can track periods, monitor soundApple is bringing a number of new tools to the Apple Watch as part of watchOS 6, many of which will help the watch run more independently of the iPhone.
