SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Nearly a year after the city opened a facility for the homeless to store their belonging in, residents say they are still being impacted.“There’s human feces all over the alleys,” said one community member during the public comment.At the meeting, a Lieutenant with the San Diego Police Department’s homeless outreach team announced they would be adding a foot patrol in the area starting next week.For the first time, representatives from the County of San Diego said they will also be diverting resources to the area to help with mental health issues.Meantime, the city is searching for another location to open a storage facility in District 9.While the exact location has not yet been announced, officials said two sites are currently being considered, at least one of them is in City Heights. 824

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Opening statements started Wednesday in the trial of a father accused of killing his two children in a fire at his Rancho Bernardo condo in 2017. Investigators said Henry Lopez passed out drunk with a lit cigarette, starting a fire that spread to the rest of the home. His children, 10-year-old Cristos and 7-year-old Isabella, died as a result of smoke inhalation. Lopez was also hospitalized with burns. Lopez’ ex-wife Nikia testified at his preliminary hearing in February 2018, saying the couple was in the custody of a divorce. Nikia Lopez also said her ex-spouse was an abusive alcoholic. I would pull him upstairs before the kids woke in the morning... sometimes I would have to clean up his throw up,” Nikia Lopez said in earlier testimony. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – One of the PGA Tour’s most popular events, the Farmers Insurance Open, will once again be held in San Diego, but no fans will be allowed to attend the January 2021 tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic.Event organizers Century Club of San Diego announced Monday that the Farmers Insurance Open is set for Jan. 25-31 at Torrey Pines Golf Course.However, spectators will be prohibited from the tournament site.Century Club CEO Marty Gorsich said, “We recognize that COVID-19 requires dramatic modifications to the operations of our annual event. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Raids are expected to begin across the country this weekend targeting undocumented immigrants with deportation orders.According to the New York Times, ICE agents will target some 2,000 who have deportation orders in at least ten cities. The raids will include "collateral" deportations, meaning undocumented immigrants at the scene may also be detained."There is definitely fear," said Benjamin Prado, a member of the 38-year-old group Union Del Barrio. This weekend, the group will be sending out an unspecified number of patrols in various communities. Prado showed 10News a video recorded by the group on Thursday morning. In it, a tip from neighbors in City Heights led them to two vehicles believed to being driven by ICE agents. The group in turn informed people through different means, including social media posts about the presence of the agents.Another group taking action is the Council on American-Islamic Relations. On Thursday morning, national CAIR reissued a community advisory ahead of the impending raids."When you're stressed the first thing you forget is your rights," said Aleena Jun Nawabi, who heads outreach for CAIR San Diego.In the advisory, CAIR officials emphasize rights, including not having to open the front door unless there's a warrant.Those rights are also highlighted in cards and handouts that will be given out by Union Del Barrio. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after they say a man was stabbed while sitting on a bench at Balboa Park early Sunday morning.The stabbing happened on the 2000 block of Park Boulevard at 12:26 a.m. Police reported that the suspect walked up to the 29-year-old victim and asked him for a cigarette.After telling the suspect he didn’t have one, the victim was stabbed in the neck, according to police.The wound was non-life threatening and the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police say.Police are still looking for the suspect.   The assailant is described as a tanned Asian male wearing a blue jacket and about 5'5" tall. 684
