RAMONA, Calif. (CNS) - A teenage boy was fatally struck by a pickup truck while riding a skateboard on a residential road in the San Diego Country Estates neighborhood of Ramona, authorities said Wednesday.The fatality occurred around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday on Barona Mesa Road near La Plata Court, in a neighborhood south of San Vicente Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Christy said.Two teenage boys were riding skateboards to the east in the eastbound lane of Barona Mesa Road and another teen was riding a bicycle eastbound in the westbound lane, Christy said. He said that when a 20-year-old Ramona man driving a 2001 Ford F-150 eastbound on Barona Mesa Road came around a left-hand curve in the road, the front of the truck one of the boys, who was riding his skateboard in the middle of the eastbound lane.The driver stopped immediately and began rendering medical aid to the victim, the officer said. Medical personnel also responded, but the youth was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending family notification.Intoxication was not a factor in the crash, Christy said. 1112

President Donald Trump says he did not address reports from U.S. intelligence agencies that said Russia paid bounties to the Taliban in exchange for the deaths of American soldiers in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.Trump made the comments in an on-camera interview with Axios reporter Jonathan Swan.Trump said his July 23 phone call with Putin was a call "to discuss other things," particularly nuclear proliferation.The president also claimed that the report "never made it to his desk," even though several media outlets have spoken to administration officials that have said the report was included in a daily intelligence briefing in February.Trump also referred to the intelligence as "fake news," and added that "a lot of people are saying that it's a fake issue."When pressed on intelligence reports that Russia has supplied weapons to the Taliban, Trump seemed to justify the Russians' actions by citing the fact that the U.S. sold weapons to the Taliban when the group was fighting the Soviet Union decades ago. Blake Farenthold announced he's resigning from the House of Representatives effective Friday, a few months after news broke he used taxpayer money to pay a settlement to a former aide who accused the Texas Republican of sexual harassment and other improper conduct.After his announcement, the National Republican Congressional Committee, which works to elect GOP candidates to the House, requested he pay back the money that was used for the settlement."I hope Blake is true to his word and pays back the ,000 of taxpayer money he used as a settlement.
