EL CAJON (CNS) - One person was shot and another stabbed at a house party in El Cajon late Saturday night, police say. Several 911 calls came in to police at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday reporting a fight at a party on Andover Road just east of South Second Street, El Cajon Police Lt. Eric Taylor said.Callers reported that multiple people had been kicked out and drove off in a silver car before turning around and firing shots at partygoers who were still outside, Taylor said. One person, a woman in her 20s, was shot in the abdomen.She was taken to a local hospital and was undergoing surgery in stable condition, Taylor said.No one else was hit by gunfire, but when police arrived at the home, they found a man in his 50s had also been stabbed in the buttocks, according to Taylor.The suspects had already left by the time officers arrived, and no one was in custody as of Sunday afternoon. 902

During an interview on Fox News on Tuesday, President Donald Trump called on Attorney General William Barr to open a corruption investigation into Joe Biden's alleged ties to Ukraine based on information contained in emails reportedly taken from a laptop that may or may not have belonged to Biden's son."We've got to get the Attorney General to act. In the emails, allegedly, the Ukrainian official thanked Hunter Biden for giving him an opportunity to meet his father.Some Republicans have seized on the story, calling it a "smoking gun." They claim that such a meeting would be a conflict of interest, given Joe Biden's political influence and Hunter Biden's position on Burisma's board.However, the Post's story left several questions about the authenticity of the emails unanswered. The owner of the repair shop, where the laptop was recovered, was unable to identify the computer's owner. The shop owner did say a Beau Biden Foundation sticker was attached to the computer. There's also no evidence that Hunter Biden responded to the email from the Ukranian energy advisor. The Biden campaign says the former Vice President's schedule shows no meetings with that advisor. Finally, the Post said it obtained materials and information for the story from Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump's personal lawyers.Citing sources, The New York Times reported Monday that one of the Post journalists who wrote the story asked that his name not be attached to the article "because he had concerns over the article's credibility."Despite Trump's claim that the emails show Joe Biden has an inclination to use his political office for personal enrichment, Trump and his family have an extensive history of dubious business practices. The New York Times reports that Trump has leveraged the office of the presidency to drive business to his resorts and hotels.Trump's call to action to Barr is just his latest call for the neutral agency to delve into cases that would be politically advantageous to the president. For one Colorado city, it’s been huge.At prAna, an activewear business located in Boulder, Colorado, Drew Romano’s biggest concerns are his customers and Mother Nature. Recycling is front and center.“Hey, we're not just throwing your stuff in the landfill; it's actually being recycled,” says Romano about the company.Most of prAna‘s shipping supplies are recyclable. As for the plastics bags that hard to recycle, prAna partnered with a company to make sure they don't end up in the landfill.“We wanted to make sure that we can strive to be as zero waste as possible,” says Ramano.It's part of the city’s Universal Zero Waste Ordinance, which requires businesses to recycle and compost.  Environmental manager Kara Mertz, who works for the City of Boulder, says in just one year, the effort is paying off. The city is now saving more than half of its trash from going to the landfill.Mertz says they used this video to show residents how to recycle. Then, they made it easy for residents to do it, by placing bins with clear and identical signage across the city.“I think making it easy and accessible to everyone is really the key,” says Mertz.Mertz says it's something we can all do, no matter where we live.“We do believe that over time people will get more and more used to it,” Mertz says. “It'll become second nature, and then all of that material, once it's sorted properly, can be put in the correct bins.” 1520

(KGTV0 - An East County mom panicked about the challenges of distance is calling upon her neighbors for answers.The Ascher family moved from Connecticut to El Cajon nearly two weeks ago. Along with the stresses of the move, there is the reality of distance learning, which proved challenging for Megan Ascher and her kids back in march. Her kids are entering kindergarten, and 2nd and 6th grades. Both Ascher and her husband work full time."Feeling overwhelmed and completely lost on how to begin or end this journey," said Ascher.She was lost, but she found her answer online. After Ascher saw a similar group in San Diego, she created an El Cajon Facebook group called 'Neighbors Helping Parents.'"The concept is to get neighbors, parents, and families working together and supporting each other," said Ascher.That support will run the gamut, from neighbors sponsoring a child's school supplies, printing out homework or picking up a lunch at the school if the parents are tied up."It does take a village, especially during a pandemic," said Ascher.Ascher's 'village' includes neighbors with and without school-age children, including some retired teachers ready to step up. Special education teachers have volunteered their time."I have neighbors willing to help with distance learning, tutoring online and going into the homes of families," said Ascher.Ashcer says the group will also help organize learning pods. Just two days after starting the group, some 120 people have joined."It says there is this big sense of community, and it's really good to see that," said Ascher.Ascher is just beginning to work out how this will be coordinated, but she says the panic is gone, as she leans on her neighbors."In the end, by banning together, I hope we can help our kids thrive and succeed," said Ascher. 1830

(KGTV) - A 13-year-old girl cried during her testimony Wednesday against the man accused of chasing her with machetes in La Mesa.The preliminary hearing started at the El Cajon Courthouse Wednesday morning for Bernard Graham, accused of the violent confrontation at Fletcher Parkway and Amaya Drive in May.The girl’s mother told 10News her daughter stopped to meet a friend on her way to Parkway Middle School, but noticed a man talking and yelling to himself. The man first threw a closed pocket knife at the girl before pulling machetes out of his pants, Tammy Brown said.According to La Mesa Police, Graham threw knives at the girl and chased her until she ran into a Subway sandwich shop to call 911. She was not hurt.RELATED: Officer-involved shooting reported in La MesaOfficers found Graham on Fletcher Parkway and tried to arrest him. Graham refused to drop the knife, police said, and officers fired at least two shots.Graham suffered a bullet wound to the abdomen and was taken to the hospital. A judge will decide whether Graham should stand trial at the end of the preliminary hearing. 1132
