LAS VEGAS — An organization in the Las Vegas valley is introducing a new tool to fight opioid overdoses in the area — vending machines.The Center for Behavioral Health in Las Vegas will soon stock vending machines with Narcan, a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.The machines will eventually include personal hygiene kits, safe sex kits, and pregnancy tests but for now, the machines only dispense Narcan."There are numerous kits inside those machines,” Krista Hales at the Center for Behavioral Health said. “The main goal of them was to be dispensing clean syringes for people who are engaging in intravenous or intra-muscular drug use.”First responders like those in the Nevada Highway Patrol have also been trained in the use of Narcan.“It’s readily available to anyone,” Hales said. “I carry one in my car. And I have them in my house just in case because even someone who is taking their medication as prescribed could be at risk for an overdose."In order to use the vending machines, users will have to register for the syringe exchange program at the Center for Behavioral Health. Once registered, users are presented with a card that allows users to pick up free kits from the machines.The vending machines are currently available at the following places:The Center for Behavioral Health, 3050 E. Iron Man is coming to life! Well, maybe not the superhero himself, but his iconic suit is being recreated. A group of engineering students and the Discovery Channel teamed up to make a real-life Iron Man suit.Adam Savage, host of Savage Builds on the Discovery Channel, recruited Craig Brice, a professor from Colorado’s School of Mines, who is known for his teachings in 3D metal printing.Jesse Adamczyk is one of 14 students selected to work on the Iron Man Project, and he was excited to be working with Savage.“We got to start working alongside Adam Savage and started fitting pieces around him and working right next to him. Right next to this legend,” Adamczyk says.Marvel Studios sent the students computer-generated imagery from the hit movie. Each piece of the 250-piece suit of armor was created from 3D printers and made out of titanium. They poured titanium powder into the printer and used a laser to cut out each piece.“The hands of the suit were very challenging,” Adamczyk says. “The hands, each had 30 parts, and the actual hand was about this thick of material.”This creation was such a phenomenal undertaking, because until recently, 3D printed metal parts were used only in military aircrafts and commercial vehicles.After three months of work, the team even impressed themselves with their capabilities. Adamczyk says the final product was incredible. And if the suit wasn’t cool enough, the group even put jet packs on the arms to make it fly, just like the one in the movie. 1509

Kroger announced on Tuesday a temporary pay raise for all of its frontline employees as the chain of grocery stores have seen a surge in demand. The an hour raise will be applied to hours worked from March 29 through April 18. This announcement is in addition to a bonus that the company announced last week. Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear is the projected winner in a contentious gubernatorial race, overtaking the incumbent Republican Gov. Matt Bevin in a state President Donald Trump won by nearly 30 points in 2016. Beshear unofficially won by 4,000 votes. The projection was made by Scripps' Lexington station WLEX-TV.This comes despite Trump's popularity in the state, and Trump making a stop in Kentucky on Monday, appearing alongside Bevin. A Mason-Dixon poll showed that 65 of Kentucky voters oppose an impeachment of Trump. The same poll also showed that 57 percent of Kentuckians approve of Trump’s job performance. Nationally, most polls show Trump with an above 50 percent disapproval rating, and nearly 50 percent of U.S. voters supportive of Trump’s impeachment.But polls showed the race between Bevin and Beshear would be neck and neck, and those polls appear to be accurate. A Mason-Dixon poll of 625 Kentucky voters in October showed a 46-46 tie between the two candidates.The relationship between Bevin and Beshear has been contentious, as Beshear has sued the Bevin administration, most recently in the spring over Bevin’s office issuing subpoenas during a statewide teacher sick-out.
