SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV)— The border shutdown at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Sunday created a ripple effect for transportation and nearby businesses.Many people were stranded at the port crossing for five hours before Homeland Security reopened the lanes in the evening. Christmas shopping at the Las Americas Outlet Mall came to an abrupt stop for Maria Martinez. "The mall was closed. She was shopping when she was told to leave the mall suddenly. Minutes prior, she claimed she saw a swath of caravan migrants rush the back of the mall, which the CBP denies."I saw the Salvadorenos people trying to cross the border,” Martinez said. “It was like watching a movie. I couldn’t believe it. I saw everything.”Customs and Border Protection closed off the San Ysidro Port of Entry late Sunday morning. Then the California Highway Patrol blocked off both the 805 and 5 Freeways south of the 905 interchanges. American federal agents in full tactical gear lined up along the border, at times using tear gas and rubber bullets to deter migrants.  "Over there, there was smoke and the noise of the gun,” Martinez said. At this point, there are no reports of any of the migrants successfully crossing the border. Martinez said she saw federal agents turn them around. The bus depot next to the mall was also closed, leaving shoppers like Martinez stuck and not knowing when they could get home. "I don't know. I think it's going to close the border. When everything is in peace, they are going to open. What time? SANDUSKY, Ohio - Luggage lost in the wind with a Sandusky, Ohio man's supply of life-saving medication inside.Alvin Rogers was taking the Greyhound bus from Sandusky to Pensacola, Florida in September. His headache started in Atlanta."They were telling me I couldn't go to Pensacola because of the storm," said Rogers.Rogers' insulin pens, similar to the medicine he lost in the bags that can't be found by Greyhound. Hurricane Florence delayed Rogers, but while he was stuck, Alvin was told his three bags were sent to Pensacola on another bus."I said, 'Well, how can my luggage go to Pensacola in a storm and I can't," asked Rogers. "I mean, it's still gotta be on the bus."That was the first time Rogers was separated from his bags and the thousands of dollars worth of medicine that he needed for an extended trip. When Rogers finally got to Pensacola a day later, the bags were nowhere to be found."So I had to wind up buying a plane ticket to get back to Ohio so I could get my doctors to get me some more meds," said Rogers.Rogers' bus and plane tickets bringing him to Pensacola, Florida and back to Ohio.A month later, back in Sandusky, Rogers still doesn't have his bags even after constant calls from Roger's roommate, Karin Lucas."A fiasco," said Lucas, describing when she calls Greyhound. "I get transferred constantly. Representatives pass the buck."Rogers and Lucas say when they reach out to Greyhound for help, they're surprised when a live person is on the other end of the line.Lucas says they could get 0 for each of the three lost bags through the Greyhound claim process. But the emergency plane ticket was nearly 0 itself. The original Greyhound ticket was about 0, including the extra money Rogers paid to get help loading and unloading the luggage and Rogers can't get that money back."For all the good it did, I still wound up losing everything," said Rogers.Roger's claim form identifies ,000 worth of medicine and personal items lost in the bags."Everything he owns was in those bags because he planned on relocating," said Lucas.Lucas says when she reaches out to Greyhound for help, she gets nowhere."For them to be as nonchalant about the situation is really really sad," said Lucas.The Cleveland Greyhound Station, where Rogers says his bags might arrive if they are ever found.Greyhound said they are still looking for the bags. (KGTV) — An elderly, disabled man has died after his East County mobile home caught fire.The man, who authorities say had trouble getting around, called first responders to the fire at 8301 Mission Gorge Rd. around 1 a.m. Saturday, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department bomb and arson unit.Deputies arrived but thick smoke prevents them from immediately entering the building and had to wait for fire crews.The man was later found dead inside. His identity has not been released.It's not yet clear how the fire started but investigators believe it began in the back of the home.Nearby mobile homes were evacuated for a short time before residents were allowed to return. 714

SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) - James Schwab, a spokesman for the San Francisco Division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has resigned, citing what he says are falsehoods being spread by members of the Trump administration including Attorney General Jeff Sessions."I just couldn't bear the burden -- continuing on as a representative of the agency and charged with upholding integrity, knowing that information was false," he told CNN on Monday.Schwab cited Acting Director Tom Homan and Attorney General Jeff Sessions as being the purveyors of misleading and inaccurate information, following Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf's controversial decision to warn the community of an upcoming ICE raid.ICE released a press release on February 27 about the operations in Northern California in which Homan stated that "864 criminal aliens and public safety threats remain at large in the community, and I have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision."Sessions also repeated a similar estimate in his remarks while visiting Sacramento last week."Those are 800 wanted criminals that are now at large in that community -- 800 wanted criminals that ICE will now have to pursue with more difficulty in more dangerous situations, all because of one mayor's irresponsible action," Sessions had said.Schwab said he took issue with their characterization."Director Homan and the Attorney General said there were 800 people at large and free to roam because of the actions of the Oakland Mayor," he told CNN. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) – A group of San Marcos neighbors say that a homeowner is terrorizing the community with threats and harassment, among other complaints. Neighbors are now banding together to sue him with the hope that he'll pack up and leave. Team 10 investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner discovered that federal agents also seized explosives and ammunition from his house, that he wasn't supposed to have. Homeowner Mark Brody, though, denies all allegations of wrongdoing."You don't have to get along with all your neighbors. You don't have to be friends with all your neighbors, but you also don't have to terrorize them," says neighbor Heidi Hafley.Brody’s home sits behind a prominent security camera and high fences. “[It’s] a fortress,” says James Pyer, one of twelve neighbors who are suing Brody, accusing him in the lawsuit of threats, stalking, trespassing, and so on."This has been a nightmare," adds Hafley. She and Pyer got a restraining order against Brody.Court records show that Brody denies harming the neighborhood, but 10News dug into public records.According to a search warrant from last year, state investigators believed that Brody may have been harboring several weapons, even though he'd been banned from having firearms or ammo because of the restraining order. Agents reportedly found and seized 30 pounds of an explosive called tannerite that had to be turned over to a bomb squad. Additionally, they found four ammunition magazines and two rounds of caliber ammunition.“At one point they put everything in the middle of the street and told us to stand back,” says Hafley.This past May, he pleaded guilty to illegally having ammunition. He was given probation and community service.10News confirmed with the San Marcos Sheriff's Station that deputies have been called out to Brody's home more than 30 times since 2014. One Sheriff's report reveals accusations from neighbors that Brody had been shining a flashlight from his truck into Hafley's bedroom. In another report, neighbors claim he yelled that she was a "[expletive]".“I'm the main target now because I push back and I let him know [that] I'm not going to tolerate this,” she tells us.In fact, Brody tried to get a restraining order against Hafley, but failed.The City of San Marcos confirmed with 10News that there have been a number of code compliance violations issued to Brody.A cease and desist order from the City to Brody includes a photo of an unauthorized traffic control sign that Brody allegedly installed. Neighbors say that he spray painted the street, put in a speed bump and put up notices meant to insult his neighbors. Hafley adds that the signs would state, "'Watch for the cows crossing,’ which he's referencing myself and my neighbor. He would [write], ‘The old bat,” which is my nextdoor neighbor [and he would write], ‘The troll,’ which is me."Brody would not do an interview with 10News. In a court response, he wrote that he categorically denies the allegations and claims to have never acted [violently] towards the neighbors."We don't go out of our houses anymore. Children don't play on the street," says Hafley.She and the eleven others on the new lawsuit against him just want him to move out so they can move on. “I don't want any other neighborhood to go through this," she adds.Each neighbor is asking for at least ,000 in damages.
