BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel said here on Sunday that her country stands ready to have closer cooperation with China in hosting the G20 summit and in peacekeeping in Mali.
The three-day forum, "One Belt One Road: Cultural Dialogue and Fusion," will have elites from both nations sharing their insights and experiences in various fields, including culture, art, economy and education.
The Bangladeshi president said his country firmly supports China's position on the South China Sea issue and believes the disputes should be resolved through direct negotiation and consultation by parties concerned.
"In this case, the arbitrators failed to see the wood for the trees. But we scholars of international law have the duty to present the truth," she said.
She added that they blamed China for the regional security issue when China is actually the victim and sowed discord between China and other regional countries.
