The proposition is also endorsed by a majority of drivers, community members, and small business groups.Those opposed to Prop. 22 say a “no” vote stops companies from writing their own exemption to California law. (KGTV) One of the biggest city-owned office spaces sits vacant and may do so for a little while longer.The City of San Diego acquired the 19-story tower at 101 Ash St. in the beginning of last year in effort to consolidate staff into a new space, but various delays have kept the renovation from being completed.Officials signed a lease-to-own contract for the old Sempra Energy building and have been paying more 5,000 a month plus operational costs since January of 2017.The city was supposed to move in July 2017 and the estimated daily cost for the vacant structure is a little less than ,000.“I do believe the city has bungled this decision from the beginning starting with the purchase,” said San Diego City Councilmember Barbara Bry.Bry was elected to council after officials voted to acquire the building for million and says the issue can be traced to how city staff briefed council just before the purchase.“At the time city staff told the council that the building was in excellent shape and the million in tenant improvements was enough,” added Bry.Records indicate the city has paid more than million in rent and roughly million in operating costs since taking over the property.Bry is working behind the scenes to mitigate the matter before the costs balloon any more, but estimates it will be at least six months until staff can move into the 101 Ash Street building.The City of San Diego says more than 1,100 employees will work there when the renovation is complete and they plan to move into the building sometime in fiscal year 2019 — which begins in July. 1617

Lifesharing arranged a meeting between a North County family and the man who received their son’s heart.Mathieu Bergeron died last May after a tragic skateboarding accident. The 20-year-old was a registered organ donor.Bergeron’s heart saved the life of Dr. Murray Alsip, who was suffering from a heart condition that made it difficult to walk and, at times, to even breathe.Alsip said he had “one foot in the grave” before he was saved by Bergeron’s precious gift.The family meeting was both joyful and emotional. (KGTV) - The California Department of Motor Vehicles announced plans Monday to close for half a day in July to conduct employee customer service training. Operation Excellence: DMV Training will “equip employees with the tools they need to handle an unprecedented volume of REAL ID applications,” said DMV officials. Californians will be required to show a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card, or passport, to fly in the U.S. starting Oct. 1, 2020. A baby has died after being snatched from his mother's lap by a monkey in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.Neighbors rushed to help after hearing the mother's screams on Monday afternoon in a village near Agra city, according to Agra Police Assistant Superintendent Abhishek, who goes only by his first name.The baby was just 12 days old."They threw stones at the monkey to force it to drop the baby but by the time he abandoned it, he had already attacked him severely on the face," Abhishek told CNN.The child's body was recovered from the terrace of an adjacent house.Police said his injuries indicate he was bitten on the face.Monkey attacks are common in India, especially in the country's capital New Delhi.In Central Delhi, government offices are surrounded by dozens of monkeys swinging from the trees or lounging in the sun on the sidewalk.According to the Delhi government, 268 cases of monkey bites were registered in the city in 2016.In 2018, the Indian government said it had approved a pilot project for immune-contraception to control the population of wild animals including monkeys in the city. 1129
